Ancellotti got a raw deal in that one. I still think Torres will be an eventual success for the Blues.

I'm hearing Chelsea will be trying to bring in a mixture of Kaka, Sneijder, and Neymar. They are a woefully uncreative side, so maybe that would help.

Biggest addition would be bringing in Villas-Boa as manager, he's been on fire of late.

There was a lot of talk on Fox Soccer yesterday about whether Liverpool was better off not making Europa, and just concentrating on getting back into the top 4 next season. I think that may be the mindset of more than a couple of people...that Europa is just an unnecessary distraction, that actually hinders a club like the Champions League does, without the financial benefit of the Champions League.

Disagree. You don't have to field your primary squad for Europa League matches. It gives a club the opportunity to give some of their young, untested players some -needed experience and playing time. And if you flame out early, no harm-no foul.

Can't say that I disagree with you, but was just parroting Fox Soccer's analysis as an explanation as to why Tottenham may not have really cared that they had made Europa.

I think QPR and Norwich are great additions for next year. It should be a fun year next year. Man City is starting to gain steam and Danglish has his boys going in the right direction. Man U and Chelsea will be there. It should also be an interesting transfer window with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man City.

I'm assuming that QPR had it's issues resolved, without losing any points? I hadn't heard/looked for any updates in a few weeks.

QPR was hit with some fairly large fines but were not docked any points. They and Norwhich got the 2 automatic promotion spots. Swansea and Reading play on the 30th to see who gets the final spot in the Prem. If Swansea get it, a Welsh team would be in the top flight of English Football for the first time in many years.

In any event, QPR and Norwhich will have to be busy in the transfer market as they aren't as good of teams as Newcastle in 2010 or Reading in 2006. That Reading team lost twice that year and had several very good players. They were promoted with 106 points. This year QPR was first with 88 points. QPR is a nice change from West Ham and all their drama.

I remember Norwich's last venture up, they didn't do very well, and they had more talent than they had this year...it was really somewhat of a miracle promotion. They will definitely need some established players to mix in with their young talent. A Welsh team hasn't been up to the top flight since the mid 80's so that would be quite a story as well.

While I completely agree that Gomes is a joke of a keeper, remember one small thing, Man United and Arsenal will both be looking for 1st choice keepers as well. I fully expect De Gea to be United's next keeper the market for first choice keepers may get a bit over inflated.

That said, Tottenham would be a much better team if Gomes wasn't there.

Some sources are saying that United has already bought De Gea. His formal introduction, they say, will be next week following the champions league final.

Swans promoted today with the 4-2 win over Reading (in the richest game in football).

Nice to see a Welsh squad promoted, although shame to see that two clubs with blue and white hoops on their kits aren't going to be in the league (QPR & Reading). :biggrin:

Should be an interesting transfer window coming up for all leagues, but the EPL in particular. I have a feeling Man U will do A LOT of shopping for midfielders. Chelsea won't be quiet, guarantee that.
