Premier League (Official Thread)

Spurs get the three points from their game in hand. They're now level with United, just three back of City and eight points clear of Chelsea.

Not a good day for Howard. Not only did he get beat from distance, but looked completely flat-footed on the first goal by Lennon as well.

Good showing by Tottenham. I think Howard was a bit unfortunate on the Assou-Ekotto bomb, took a little deflection off Cahill that may have given it just enough revolution to bend in. Regardless, Spurs were clearly the better team and the entire Everton team seemed flat footed today. This EPL season is shaping up to be wildly entertaining in the second half.

Edit: Didn't see the previous post about the goal. Fabulous strike all things considered.

Yeah, Everton didn't look good. Seems to be a lot of distractions around them. That said, I'd love, love, love to have somebody like Donovan taking corners for Spurs. Everything he sends in from the flag seems to be at least mildly dangerous and tests the opposition. When Spurs take a corner on the other hand, it's usually a good time to make a quick run to the fridge.

Which is somewhat appalling considering Gareth Bale is the starting left winger. I mean, if anyone can send in a ball it should be him. I was hoping to see more from Donovan in the match, but with Everton just not being a strong club he had little to work with. Tough spot for him because he needs to seize this opportunity and show top flight Americans can play overseas, because he has failed to do so with his chances in the past, but he's also not on a strong side that would showcase his skills.

Spurs at home vs. Wolves, and they only manage a draw. They had to scramble for it too, in spite of dominating possession and chances. Spurs were sloppy in their shooting and passing the entire match and seemed to lack urgency in final moments when they should have been going for the go-ahead goal.

Adebayor was downright awful. Needless fouls, sloppy ball skills and often offsides - Bale had scored a probable second goal for Spurs at one point when Adebayor added a needless touch to the ball from an offside position to have it disallowed.

Last time they dropped points like this they got a huge series of breaks. Can't count on that happening again.
