Premier League (Official Thread)

Interesting thought. It won't happen, but still an interesting thought.

http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/futuresport/201201/ipitch-apple-prepares-bid-epl-tv-rights

Apple could be set to rush soccer broadcasting into a new era with a revolutionary, multi-billion dollar bid for television rights to the English Premier League.

And it could have implications far beyond soccer.
ESPN's EPL coverage is the lone thing I don't really have a problem with from ESPN (with Ian Darke and Steve McManaman handling the commentary). FOX Soccer is alright at times too.

Partially off-topic considering the club's that Tevez is considering... But the circus for Tevez just got even more crazy.

We've got:
AC Milan- Who only wants to loan him until the end of the season, THEN purchase him. IMO, Milan is VERY smart for doing this considering Tevez has played 9 minutes of soccer in the last year.

Inter Milan- New to the Tevez sweepstakes. They are offering a structured payment plan. Such a foolish move considering they snagged Diego Forlan from Atletico Madrid before the season. They don't need forwards, they need midfield, BAD!

PSG- The long-shot. They missed their opportunity to improve the Starting XI when Beckham said he wanted to stay in LA. They've shown interest in Tevez as a feeler, IMO.

IMO, Man City quits being stubborn and gives AC Milan what they want. In the long run, AC Milan will end up paying more than Inter.

As long as I don't have to listen to any of the Fox Soccer douchebags do commentary. Thank Jebus they're able to show British feeds.

He doesn't do games, but you don't like Eric Wynalda and his fake voice? It's like a bad impression of "Anchor Man".

I've come around a bit on FSC in the last few months. They've upped the production value a bit. With the addition of FS Plus, they're showing more live matches and less tape delay. Best of all, Max Bretos and his horrible voice-over work are long gone.

He's 37 and I commend his warrior spirit and his long-time service to the club, but I don't know if Paul Scholes coming out of retirement to play in the United midfield is the long-term solution United supporters were looking for in the central midfield.

http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2012/Jan/paul-scholes-rejoins-united.aspx

Paul Scholes has rejoined the playing staff at Manchester United for the remainder of the season with immediate effect, after approaching Sir Alex Ferguson to reverse his decision, made at the end of last season, to retire.
But I guess if the club was playing a natural center half (Phil Jones) in central midfield at times this season, it needed help.

Manchester United lead City, 3-1, in the second half of today's FA Cup tie.

Watched the Man City/Man U game this morning in the FA Cup....wow, that red card was rubbish. If anything it was a yellow, at the very worst. Horrible call that affected the rest of the game

Thierry Henry just scored for Arsenal.

There's something in both of my eyes.

I'm not an Arsenal fan, but seeing Henry score for the gunners just brought back all kinds of beautiful memories of the Premier League from when I was a much younger guy...

...those were beautiful times.

I am a Man Utd fan and I must agree that Chris Foy got it all wrong. Yes it was a 2 footed challenge, studs were up and showing, intent may or may not have been there but the most telling things was Kompany got all air. Nani is Portugese and as such, he has a proclivity for diving and going down under the slightest of bumps. Nani didn't even have to use his Oscar wining acting talents to draw the red card. The only thing I can even think the ref was going on would be, IF Kompany had made contact, Nani might be walking around on one leg for the rest of his life. Kompany has a bad reputation for Scholesesque tackles that are ill-timed, ill-tempered & groosly unneccessary.

I would agree this decision went United's way and I am happy they knocked City out, but it did cast the game into an unfortunate situation.
