Premier League (Official Thread)

And Salah now plays for Chel$ea, man, supporting Liverpool can often be frustrating.

Basil: We want 12 Million
Liverpool: We'll give you 7.

That was 6 weeks ago, yesterday LFC was at 10 Million and close to an agreement, and CFC swooped in with 11 and showed how bad at this negotiating thing Liverpool has been. Bleh, bad football day already and it's only 40 minutes past midnight.

The best part is reading Liverpool fans on the Twitter after their team loses out on a player. "GET YOUR OWN SCOUTS!!!" ...As if a club like Chelsea wouldn't have found out about a footballer that played in the Champions League had they not read in the tabloids that Liverpool were in on him first.

Bad is an understatement. That is a huge loss as they've been targeting him for months...

I know, this should have been a done deal at the beginning of the Transfer window, but they wanted to try and get him for less. He said he wanted to play in Anfield, so get it done, don't try to drag it out when you know there's going to be interest. Also, he can play midfield, as we saw against AV Liverpool desperately needs midfielders.

I'm still laughing at various British radio shows saying David Moyes doesn't like 'flair' players as his reasoning for not playing Kagawa. Then United sign Juan Mata.

They could switch out the entire squad, I'm still giving Moyes two seasons (tops).

Wow, the Spurs are really not that good.

...and yet were level on points with "title contenders" Liverpool until yesterday. Spurs were in that game and playing respectably up until Danny Rose got sent of and a penalty was awarded for a clean tackle. It was 0:1 at that point, and I doubt any other teams in the league would do much better than what happened after that point with only ten men on the pitch.

Not that Spurs were gonna win that game, but the score does not tell the story the way it did in their earlier drubbings. Manchester City are from another planet. If they don't win at least a treble this season it's a failure.

That's a little unfair. They are undoubtedly the best team in England, and should win the title and a domestic cup. But they aren't even a top five club in Europe. To expect them to win treble is expecting too much. It has only been done in Europe seven times.

They could win a domestic treble. Granted, their 5th round FA Cup matchup against Chelsea will go a long way toward deciding that. Champions League is certainly a taller order. "Failure" may have been a bit of a harsh proclamation on my part, but outsized expectations come with outsized spending.
