Premier League (Official Thread)

Malky Mackay sacked from Cardiff City.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/wales/25526438

It was only a matter of time and the emails, memos and other communication had already been leaked from ownership to Mackay in past weeks.

He'll get another position in no time.

Two straight wins for Tottenham at Old Trafford. Only two points behind fourth place Liverpool.

Sherwood has been a breath of fresh air, and other than taking off Capoue for Bentaleb I think his decisions today were spot-on.

If AVB was managing this game it would have been another 3-0 loss or worse. ManU assaulted Spurs in the first 20 minutes, and if their back line had been playing any higher they surely would have let in goals in that opening spell. The formation and depth of the back line gave Spurs the space in midfield to start the counterattack and they got better chances than they would have under AVB's style of play.

Lloris was immense - he's my MOTM. Adebayor, Eriksen and Soldado were also excellent. Adebayor went off with an injury, hopefully it's nothing serious. They would really miss him. If Spurs can get more of their first choice players fit they might be on to something.

Taunting isn't my thing, but apparently they were throwing coins at him.

I have no problem with some good natured taunting or even bird flipping, even when it's my team on the receiving end. Throwing shit at players or on the pitch I won't condone. :shake:

If that stuff happened, I missed it. By that point of the match I was slightly tipsy. On a side note, I'm glad we have a proper soccer bar in Cincy now. Even with all of the matches more accessible at home than ever, it's nice to have a place to go where you can have a few beers and watch the game with other people who care about it. Nice contingent of both Spurs and Gooners for the match today, and good banter before during the match.

Nice showing from West Ham. Losing 4-0 5-0 to Nottingham Forest. They must have decided to play their 'C' squad in an attempt keep their top players fresh for pulling out of the drop zone in league play
They did...I think their semi in the League (former Carling) Cup is midweek this week, so the manager said he was going to "play the kids" today. The sad thing is that utter mess of a team is 2 wins away from qualifying for a Euro League spot next year.
