Pre-Season Practice - 2005

sweet. I was looking for their gameday release earlier today. I printed them all out last year (here at work  )

somebody on BN said Wells is #3 and Haw is #4.
This is pure speculation on my part, but I think that Schnittker is ahead of Wells because of pass protection. Haw of course is still paying for that J he smoked. I think Wells will still get more carries than Schnittker despite what the depth chart says, but Schnittker will probably be in there for third down.

Jenkins is in the two-deep behind Tyler Everett, with Underwood backing up Youboty on the other side. O'Neal gets the nod at Nickel, since it's less of a corner position, and more of a hybrid of the cornerback role and the SS role he's being groomed for.

Hoobler also #2 MLB...looks like a reshirt for D'Andrea.
I don't think D'Andrea is fully recovered from his surgery yet. I believe that if the NCAA grants him another year and he fully recovers from his surgery he will probably play this year.

Did anyone notice the "or" with the two MLBs. Does this mean they are co-starters?

I don't know. I almost think they would like to have D' Animal around next year with Carpenter and Hawk gone.

Mild surprises:

Datish over Rehring - Got the impression that Datish has stepped up rather than Rehring declining. They need to quit this playing time "battle" and get a sure starter to gain some cohesiveness for the first game.

Stan White over Dionte Johnson - I think Johnson is the best FB we have. DEVASTATING blocker. Versatility may have won White the job.

Brandon Schnittker over Erik Haw - This should REALLY make us worry about the running game that Tressel found it necessary to move a FB to second string tailback. Is Haw stuggling that much?

MLB 51 ANTHONY SCHLEGEL* 6-1 251 SR.-5TH
7 starts in 1st yr. at OSU in 2004 ... 84 tackles, 10.5 TFL, 3.5 sacks ...
was a sophomore captain and 2-yr starter at Air Force (2001-02)
46 Chad Hoobler* 6-3 240 So.

I don't see any OR for the MLB spot. Anybody else see it?

There is no "OR" for MLB on the document I'm looking at.

Somehow I was looking at a different link (go to):

This link gives the "or" in their listing of the two deep.

Why?? Tressel likes using a big back to mix things up. Why should we be worried at all about this? I say wait until the first game before REALLY worrying about anything.

Stan White? Wasn't there a hell of a linebacker named Stan White on that incredible 68 NC team? Is this the son... whoops... grandson?
It's his son. He went to high school in Baltimore (Gilman), I guess they've lived there since his dad was a Colt. He was a LB/TE recruit in the same year we got Hawk, Carpenter and D'Andrea, so he's a 4th year junior.

Do you remember his dad's pick against scUM in 1970? It was in the 4th quarter, and he brought it back inside the 10 to set up Leo Hayden's clinching TD.

Check this link on Jr. from the official site:
