Post 23 Season tOSU Coaching Changes

opinions on him as a QBs/OC?
This is what someone told me.

He is spread out of gun, mix old school downhill running. Deep shots to pull back the defense, and slam it right at them.
I’d rather have him than Joe Brady. 7 years of HC experience, championship games, bowl game experience… running a program.. recruiting experience.
Looks like he has only had two years as a direct QB coach, but he’s reportedly a brilliant offensive mind who relates really well to players, so hopefully he can relay reading a defense well. Plus he’s got Day running direct support there.

I imagine even if Day drops play calling, he’ll still focus a lot of attention in the QB room.

Candle was also the recruiting director for awhile at UT, which is nice experience to bring to the table—plus the deep Ohio recruiting connections is a plus.

Jason Candle is emerging as a front runner.
From Ohio, attended Mount Union - he's my front runner. The MAC has a few good HC's, but he might be the only Ohio Man among them. Obviously, one of Tress's most valuable traits was he had scarlet and grey coursing through his veins ~ success over scUM. And he's not "soft" if he likes some "downhill running."

I guess the two things I would like to hear/read are something along the lines of he 'adjusts to the talent he has instead of forcing them into his philosophy' and also 'great with in-game adjustments.'

Odds are he does both, but I always fear getting a coach who tries to put a square peg in a round hole and can't think on the fly.

It'd be on par with the Knowles hire, if not better.

I say better because he should already be a P5 coach...he brings a ton of experience as a HC for a very good Toledo program, only 44, Ohioan.

On top of that, you saw what he did with Finn & Boone last year - now imagine what he can do with Howard and Henderson/Judkins. He did a good job balancing the load even with Boone as he has 194 carries and their backup had 110. Got his TE pretty active as well.

I don't often say this about any hire, but if he was the OC he'd be a....

Coordinated some pretty potent Bammer offenses in 2021 and 2022. Yeah, he bombed in New England this year, but go look at their roster...

I was going to say, New England’s offensive talent could be strongly attributed to Belly just as much. I wouldn’t be bothered by a hire like BOB, he could be a very strong support mechanism for game management which is where Day seemingly continues to fail.

I don't say "me likey" that much, but me likey if that would come to fruition. Can boot Frye off the failed run coordinator attempt and have a more balanced offense...not getting Hendo and Judkins the ball consistently (Hayden as well) would be a crime punishable by having to move to *ichigan. Plus we have to mix in some Thurman at TE. All sounds good to me.
