What do you think he lacks? Dude is a very intelligent 3x all American millionaire who is doing this by choice. That shows, to me, that he's motivated to do well at least. His credentials alone would be a recruiting tool. He's also pretty charismatic and well spoken. I don't see how he could fail tbh

People around Ohio State see in Laurinaitis the same things they saw in Hartline. I don’t see what’s confusing about the optimism for him to be successful.

Be optimistic all you want. But Michael Jordan would be a terrible coach. Being a good player doesn't always translate.....but being a Buckeye is all it takes for fans to want you to be coach. I don't know if he's good or bad, but my determining factor will never be "was he a good Buckeye?".

Yeah they were better last year. Now maybe he make up for that in recruiting chops or adjust. But this he's the next Brian Hartline in waiting is just silly

I’d say the room returned to its mean because Knowles didn’t blitz them 80% of the time to hide their deficiencies, primarily. Eichenberg also played injured to the detriment of the team, again, but having an entire arm not working instead of broken hands was harder to hide.

They struggled reading keys this year more than ever. That doesn’t have anything to do with a bad arm or injuries.

They literally stepped the wrong way, taking themselves out of the play.

I still think using that approach would be grounds for Fryes termination as well. Offensive linemen are more difficult to evaluate however.

Yeah, it's less about him being a former player and more about the buzz around his coaching and recruiting ability.

LB play did take a step back, but I tend to agree that them having to read and react rather than being able to be more aggressive showed some flaws in their game. Maybe it was JL as well, but we also saw Simon take a big leap forward. We can't know for sure yet.
