Iowa’s Robinson arrested on marijuana charge

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP)—Iowa running back Adam Robinson has been charged with possession of marijuana, putting his career with the Hawkeyes in jeopardy.
The Iowa State Patrol says Robinson was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over Monday night in Des Moines, Robinson’s hometown. Police stopped the vehicle for not having front plates.

Police say a trooper detected a marijuana odor from the vehicle, then found marijuana after a search.

Robinson was released with a promise to appear in court Jan. 5. The driver was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana.
Robinson was suspended for Iowa’s trip to the Insight Bowl for failing to follow team policies. A message left at his family’s home in Des Moines wasn’t immediately returned.

The Hawkeyes (7-5) face Missouri (10-2) on Tuesday night.

Word from Pittsburgh is that both Hayward and AD Steve Pederson may soon be fired.

Pederson has a history of disastrous hires, including Bill Callahan at Nebraska and former women's hoop coach Traci Waites at Pitt, who had personal issues of her own that scuttled her jobs both at Pitt and Columbia.

Too bad, because I was impressed with what Hayward accomplished on the field. But wife-beating can't be tolerated from one's head coach, nor from anyone else.

In that case, Haywood might have a soft landing waiting for him by going back to ND. They seem to tolerate all kinds of evil shenanigans these days.

Woman tells jury ex-Iowa players sexually assaulted her

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- A former University of Iowa athlete fought back tears Tuesday as she told jurors she was sexually assaulted by two football players during a 2007 attack that left her "devastated, violated."

The woman was the first witness to testify at the second-degree sexual abuse trial of former Iowa football player Cedric Everson, who is fighting a charge that could send him to prison for up to 25 years. Prosecutors allege Everson assaulted the woman while she was passed out, but Everson's attorney argued that the sex was consensual.

The woman told jurors she was drinking rum with her friends in a dorm room and doesn't remember going out to a party at a friend's house on Oct. 13, 2007. She was a freshman at the time.

She said she vaguely remembers returning to her room at Hillcrest Residence Hall to go to bed but got up after a male friend called and asked to meet her outside. She said she met football players who also lived in the dorm in the courtyard, and ended up in an empty dorm room with football players Abe Satterfield and Jevon Pugh.

The woman said both of them were touching her sexually, and she told them to stop. She said Pugh left, but Satterfield persisted. She said she decided to perform oral sex on Satterfield in the hopes of avoiding intercourse since she was a virgin, but she said he eventually pinned her down and assaulted her against her will.
