Penn State Nittany Lions' Jared Odrick cited for disorderly conduct - ESPN
Updated: March 18, 2009, 4:54 PM ET
Odrick cited after alleged fight

Penn State defensive tackle Jared Odrick has been cited for disorderly conduct after he allegedly fought with three Penn State students and another man in the early morning hours of Feb. 28.

Odrick was charged March 11 after police said he punched one of the individuals outside an apartment building in State College. The police citation indicated that alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident.

Police were notified about the altercation after the alleged victims looked up Odrick's picture on Penn State's football Web site. Odrick, 21, was the only person cited in the incident, which took place at 1:40 a.m. He was fined $430.

In an e-mail to ESPN.com, Penn State football spokesman Jeff Nelson said that there has been no indication of a change in Odrick's status on the team. According to media reports, Odrick attended Penn State's pro timing day on Wednesday.

Odrick earned first-team All-Big Ten honors last season from the league's coaches after recording 41 tackles, including 9.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. The 6-5, 306-pound senior recently was named to the preliminary watch list for the Lombardi Award, awarded to the nation's top lineman or linebacker.

Penn State endured a wave of off-field problems involving football players in 2007 and early 2008, though things have quieted down significantly since September, when police found marijuana in an apartment belonging to defensive linemen Maurice Evans and Abe Koroma. Evans and Koroma were suspended for three games following the incident.

[sarcasm] It's not the football players fault, the students are picking on them. Where do you think the term 'Nit picking' comes from? [/sarcasm]
