Notre Dame's Yeatman to be sentenced on previous charges

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) ? Notre Dame tight end Will Yeatman will be sentenced on previous misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated and reckless driving after being cited as a minor consuming alcohol, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors in February agreed to dismiss a criminal recklessness charge after Yeatman agreed to plead guilty to drunken driving and reckless driving. Under the agreement, if he had stayed out of trouble for a year, the drunken driving charge would have been dismissed. But he was cited by South Bend police on Sept. 21, for consuming alcohol as a minor after police were called to a party.

Zook says backup QB McGee will suit up after arrest

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois football coach Ron Zook says backup quarterback Eddie McGee will suit up for Saturday's game against Indiana, even after McGee's arrest.
Zook says he's heard the details of McGee's arrest and he's comfortable that the sophomore did nothing bad enough to require serious punishment.
McGee was arrested at a homecoming dance early Sunday on suspicion of shoving a 19-year-old woman to the floor. Police say McGee was poked in the eye and allegedly reacted by pushing the woman. After she pushed back, authorities say McGee knocked her down.
McGee doesn't have any criminal record.
Champaign County prosecutors say he'll be offered adult diversion at a court hearing later in the day. Diversion is a sort

Not great behavior when Dad's salary vs performance ratio is the worst in the Big Ten.

UVa's Jackson faces felony charges

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- Virginia fullback RaShawn Jackson is facing felony charges in connection with a campus burglary committed in 2007.
University police said Wednesday that Jackson faces one count of
breaking and entering and one count of grand larceny in connection with the break-in at Cauthen Dormitory last November.

NBC-29 in Charlottesville reported that Jackson turned himself in Tuesday and was freed on bond. Police said no additional details were immediately available.

It also was not immediately clear why it took more than 11 months for charges to be placed in the case, but the arrest did not affect Jackson's status on the football team.

Another similarity between JoePa and Bobby. But this brawl was during the middle of the day. (Nothing good happens after 10 a.m.?)

And right when they were getting good publicity for the Myron Rolle Rhodes Scholar interview. I've bolded an interesting quote at the end.

Florida State players allegedly involved in campus brawl

Florida State football players were involved in a campus fight on Wednesday that is under investigation by the FSU Police Department. Coach Bobby Bowden would not identify the players or specify how many were involved.

"The incident today, I really have no comment on it," Bowden said. "The police will look into it and let us know what they think. That's all I've got to say about that."

Maj. James Russell of the FSUPD said that at 12:37 p.m. Wednesday officers from the department arrived to investigate what he described as a large brawl.

"Persons involved in the fight are alleged to be some members of the FSU football team and members of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity," Russell said in an e-mail to the Tallahassee Democrat.

The fight took place during the Market Wednesday flea market held at the Student Union. Russell stated that probably more than 10 people were involved and that four were believed to have been injured, including two female students. The extent of the injuries has not been released and the investigation, which includes gathering statements from about 15 people is continuing.

As of Wednesday night, no arrests have been made in the case.
Four players have been suspended over the past three games for either violations of team rules, not fulfilling responsibilities or unexcused absences. A total of 16 players, most for their involvement in an academic fraud case, have been suspended at least one game this season.

When asked if that this seems to be a weekly situation for his team, Bowden responded, "Well, that's America for you, isn't it."
