Former football player sentenced in brawl
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A former Tulane University football player convicted of attempted manslaughter for his role in a brawl outside a Bourbon Street nightclub was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison.
Criminal Judge Arthur Hunter also set a bond of $200,000 for Ray Boudreaux Jr., which would allow the 23-year-old to be free while he appeals his conviction.
A jury convicted Boudreaux last month of three counts of attempted manslaughter and one count of aggravated battery, but acquitted him of a more serious charge of attempted second-degree murder.
At least three men were treated for stab wounds after a fight outside the Utopia nightclub in September 2007. One of those men suffered brain damage.

MSU players plead guilty
STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- Three Mississippi State football players, who the school announced have been readmitted to the university, each pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an arrest.
The pleas of starting cornerback Anthony Johnson, reserve linebacker Jamon Hughes and reserve defensive tackle Rodney Prince stem from the March 27 on-campus shooting that resulted in the arrest of defensive lineman Quinton Wesley and all-Southeastern Conference offensive lineman Mike Brown.
Hughes, Johnson and Prince withdrew from school shortly afterward. MSU coach Sylvester Croom has said the trio had an "indirect" role in the shooting.
Oktibbeha County Justice Court records show the three players were each fined $638.50.
The school says the three may practice with the team, but are ineligible to compete in the upcoming season.
