Colorado linebacker Sipili, ex-defensive lineman Perri sued over assault

BOULDER, Colo. -- University of Colorado linebacker Michael Sipili and former defensive lineman Christopher Perri have been sued over an assault that happened last year.

Colorado student John Antrim filed the lawsuit this week. He says he had three metal plates inserted into his face after the assault. Antrim's lawyers say he suffered traumatic brain injury and long-term disfigurement. He is seeking compensation for his injuries.

Sipili pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge in the case. He was suspended from school and the football team last fall but is expected to be a starter this fall.

Perri was suspended for three games. However, a Colorado official says Perri was dismissed from the team this year for having too many team violations.

Alabama LB Jimmy Johns arrested on cocaine charges

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP)?Alabama linebacker Jimmy Johns was arrested on felony drug charges Tuesday and kicked off the team, the latest in a string of off-the-field problems for coach Nick Saban?s squad.

Johns, who moved to defense for his senior year after playing running back and receiver in 2007, was ?pretty wide open? selling cocaine to students on and around the University of Alabama campus but tried to hide what he was doing from teammates, police said.

?He didn?t want them to know he was involved in it,? said Capt. Jeff Snyder of the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force.

Records did not indicate whether Johns had hired a lawyer. He was held at the metro jail with bond set at $120,000.

Saban dismissed Johns from the team almost immediately.

Former Longhorn, suspended Longhorn plead guilty to robbery

AUSTIN (AP) - A former Texas football player and another athlete suspended last year pleaded guilty Thursday to robbery charges, a Travis County prosecutor said.

Robert Joseph, who served as a safety, and Andre Jones, a defensive tackle, each pleaded guilty to a felony charge of robbery. Each faces up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, although probation is also an option, said Buddy Meyer, an assistant district attorney in Travis County.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 14 in Judge Brenda Kennedy's court, Meyer said.

The two were arrested in connection with a July 2007 home invasion that also allegedly involved running back and safety James Henry, who was indicted for knowingly destroying or concealing stolen items. Henry has not entered a plea but will make a court appearance July 18, Meyer said.

Henry and Jones were suspended last year. Neither is listed on the team's roster. It is unclear if either was reinstated and a spokesman for the Longhorns athletic department did not immediately respond to a voicemail message.

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma offensive lineman Phil Loadholt faces a July court hearing on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and transporting an open container.

Loadholt, the Sooners' 6-foot-8, 350-pound starting left tackle, was pulled over at 2:35 a.m. Saturday after a state trooper saw his white Chevy Impala cross the center line and run onto the shoulder on Interstate 35 in Norman, according to an affidavit filed in Cleveland County District Court.

The trooper reported in his affidavit that Loadholt, 22, had a blood-alcohol content of 0.15 percent -- or nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent -- on two separate tests. The trooper's affidavit also indicated that open containers of Busch Light beer and malt liquor were on the center console of Loadholt's car.

An attorney for Loadholt appeared in court Wednesday to enter an innocent plea on his client's behalf. His next court date was set for July 8. Loadholt was released on bond.
