Police/Legal Blotter (stop breaking the law, asshole!)

Just bounced by Coach Hunt.

New evidence (apparently murdering a baby while drunk at a Black Mass was known to Coach Hunt, but it appears he did not know M-berger could not throw the out route until this week-end) coming to light was used to support the decision.

Unfair sir - Coach Richt has known for awhile that the out route was going to be a problem for Mett

**Apparently the dismissal is more based on the fact that the kid lied to him repeatedly about the incident. Which goes to show youngsters out there, if you screw up and make a mistake - tell the truth and you're much more likely to get another chance.

Woof - doesn't his momma work for the UGA athletic Dept??? Bad news for the poodles.

She's apparently an admin somewhere in the department - but not in a position of leadership. Perhaps she should have been more adamant about her son not going on Spring Break till he was 21.

Shit - Joe Tereshinkski's dad was on the training staff and we sat his ass down quickly when Stafford was a frosh. We have to beat Tennessee this year motherfucker!

How many parents of recruits do you guys hire?

That's awfully presumptuous!

Tereshinski's father has been on the staff way before he enrolled and remains on the staff today. Follow the link below - he's been employed by the university since 1982.
Joe Tereshinski, Jr. Bio - Official Athletics Site of the University of Georgia Bulldogs

I can't speak to the hire date of Mettenberger's mother - but I'm assuming if we were trying to "cast a swing vote" in favor of a recruit - we could do a helluva lot better than an admin job. Since it's only his 2nd year - it's likely she was employed by the University before he was recruited as well.

The school is in a fairly rural area and is the largest employer for 50 miles (until you reach Atlanta or Augusta). Recruits that live locally, might be limited - but it isn't surprising to learn their parents might have something to do with the U. Certainly Buckeye fans understand something about a University being a major economic driver/employer for a region of a state?

McGee suspended after drunk driving charge

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Texas tailback Vondrell McGee has been suspended for the first game of the 2010 season and maybe more after his arrest on a drunken-driving charge.

Texas coach Mack Brown said McGee will miss "at least the first game next season and will be working with the scout team until he is eligible to play."

McGee started four games and ran for 300 yards and two touchdowns in 2009 and was in the mix to earn the starting role again next season as a senior.

Four members of Wolfpack facing drug charges

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Four North Carolina State football players face drug charges after police found marijuana in an off-campus apartment.

Raleigh police say offensive tackle Jake Vermiglio, and defensive tackles Markus Kuhn and J.R. Sweezy each were charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a dwelling for use of controlled substances.

All-Atlantic Coast Conference tight end George Bryan was charged with maintaining a dwelling for use of controlled substances.

A fifth person, Allison Elaine Davis, faces the same charges as Vermiglio, Kuhn and Sweezy. Davis listed the same home address as Vermiglio on a police incident report.

All charges are misdemeanors.

N.C. State coach Tom O'Brien didn't immediately announce disciplinary action for the players.

"I have been made aware of the situation and appropriate action will be taken," O'Brien said in a statement released by the school.

According to a search warrant, an off-duty Raleigh police officer working a secondary job as security at the apartment complex early Saturday smelled the odor of marijuana coming from an apartment. After meeting with the tenants, a search uncovered three sandwich bags containing approximately six grams of marijuana, a cigar containing the drug, two homemade bongs and other paraphernalia, according to a police inventory of seized property.

KU football player dismissed from team after arrest

Kansas defensive tackle Jamal Greene was dismissed from the team Friday after his arrest in connection with an attempted aggravated robbery.
?I can tell you he?s no longer a member of the team,? Kansas associate athletic director Jim Marchiony said.

Greene, 22, and former Kansas football player Vernon Brooks, 23, were arrested early Friday. According to reports, Lawrence police were dispatched to an apartment in the 2600 block of West Sixth Street around 1:30 a.m.

Witnesses told police that two men had entered and made them lie on the floor at gunpoint. Greene and Brooks soon left the apartment, and no one was injured.

About 2:30 a.m., Brooks was taken into custody without incident. Greene was arrested around 9 a.m. without incident.

Greene, who played at Washington High, had been singled out by Jayhawks defensive coordinator Carl Torbush during spring practice as a potential impact player. Green started eight games in 2008 and appeared in nine games last season.

Brooks, a linebacker who arrived from Kansas last year from Blinn Junior College in Texas, had been dismissed from the team by coach Turner Gill before spring practice for violating a team rule.

Boise State's Robinson sentenced in bar fight case

BOISE, Idaho -- Suspended Boise State player Jason Robinson has been ordered to spend 180 days in jail and pay at least $29,000 in restitution for breaking another man's jaw during a fight at a downtown bar.

Robinson pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery Tuesday in a deal with prosecutors. The judge suspended 160 days of a sentence that allows him to serve on a county labor crew instead of jail. Robinson must also serve two years' probation and complete 200 hours of community service.

Robinson apologized for his behavior and said he has learned a lesson. He was initally charged with a felony. But a felony conviction would have ended his eligibility for his athletic scholarship.

The 21-year-old safety was suspended in March by coach Chris Petersen and did not participate in spring drills.

Last season, Robinson made 26 tackles playing mostly on special teams.
