An update on LaMichael James:

Canzano blog: The strange case of LaMichael James continues | OregonLive.com

LaMichael James is due in court Friday and will reportedly change his plea. A law enforcement source tells me that he's expected to go with a "no contest"... likely as part of a plea agreement that includes a batterer's intervention program, other punishment and gets him easier access to the school and a return to his athletics programs.

Associated PressOregon running back LaMichael James (center) leaves the courtroom at the Lane County Courthouse after a hearing. James, 20, was arrested after a woman told police he choked her and threw her to the ground during an argument. James originally pleaded not guilty to charges of fourth-degree assault, physical harassment and strangulation. Remember he pleaded "not guilty" to the fourth-degree assault and menacing charges that stem from his Feb. 17 arrest for allegedly strangling and pushing a woman.

Oregon star RB LaMichael James sentenced to 10 days in jail - CFB News - FOX Sports on MSN

James pleads guilty to a lesser charge and gets a 10-day sentence (plus 2 years probation). I know the Ethics Commission that is Bellotti/Kelly said they were letting the legal process play out, but now it has, and their starting RB has been criminally convicted for his mistreatment of a woman. This guy (and eventually Masoli too) has to miss significant time at any self-respecting program.

Check me here but at Oregon-

-scrubs get booted from the program for talking shit about the coach on facebook
-role players get a year suspension for DUI
-starting power back gets suspended for nationally televised assault and battery but is back in time for the big games at the end of the year
-starting speed back goes Ike Turner on his girlfriend and it's wait and see how it plays out in court
-starting QB steals laptops and...is still the starting QB as far as I have read

I could swear there is a pattern in all that but I'm having a hard time seeing it.

To be fair, DUI is cut and dry. You were either guilty of it or refused to be proven innocent with a test.

LaMichael James should have his day in court, and Masoli has not been charged of anything.

OK so we are past all that innocent until proven guilty nonsense. We now have two convicts still part of the program and a rogue social networker being taught a lesson.

Hell of a way to run a railroad up there Chip.

Be sure to check out the comments after the article. Love the one that claims the jail time will be illegal recruiting visits to get more cons to go to MSU!

ECU suspends one, kicks one off team after arrests

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- East Carolina has dismissed running back Brandon Jackson and suspended running back Giavanni Ruffin following their arrests.

Coach Ruffin McNeill said Jackson was kicked off the team after having previous rule violations. McNeill called Ruffin's suspension indefinite and that he would have to meet several requirements to return to the program.

The school said Greenville police charged Jackson with underage consumption of alcohol, intoxication and simple affray Sunday morning. He was East Carolina's second-leading rusher with 316 yards last season after transferring from Kentucky.

The school said Ruffin was charged with resisting and obstructing a police officer. He was third on the team with 308 yards rushing.
