In the world of recruiting sometimes things can be confusing, and that seems to be the case with P.J. Hill. Reports surfaced both Thursday night and Friday morning that Hill committed to Ohio State, and would enroll as soon as Monday in school. However that isn't exactly the case.

WTF is going on? That's weird. Some type of eligibility issue? Certainly Hill would not back down form that type of offer.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
The Ohio State men's basketball team bolstered its point guard position for next season when it received a commitment last night from P.J. Hill, who helped Midland (Texas) Community College win the National Junior College Athletic Association championship last season.

Hill said coach Thad Matta called last night to offer him a scholarship and he accepted. He said he plans to enroll Monday for the start of the second summer session.

Good find. This whole situation amazes me. I am excited to have PJ and am really rooting for him. But, I still wonder if the proper dilligence was done in researching him. It a testament in Matta's confidence with Groce. I think maybe they were looking for a good defender and just liked what they saw.

I don't know how Tubby missed this one. I went to middle school and high school with is kid, and he might be small, but he will bust his rear to play basketball. I really don't know how he spent a year in a JUCO when he could have been playing against D-I competition, but that Matta really lucked out here.

P.J. Hill, a junior college transfer from Minneapolis, was added to the Ohio State men's basketball roster for the 2007-08 season, Thad Matta, head coach of the Buckeyes, announced Tuesday.

Hill joined the Buckeyes during the summer and will have three years of eligibility in Columbus. He played for one season at Midland (Texas) College, the 2007 National Junior College Athletics Association National Champions.

Hill (6-1, 165) was a point guard for the 29-8 Midland squad that won the NJCAA title for the first time since 1982 when Spud Webb played for the Chaparrals. Hill averaged 6.5 points and nearly three assist a game a season ago.

The night he was offered and accepted a scholarship to play basketball at Ohio State, barely a week after an OSU coach discovered him at a camp in Tulsa, P.J. Hill was asked for the story. "How I got to Tulsa is a story in itself," he said.
