PG Mike Conley (1st Team All BIG, NBA All-Star, Oscar Winner, Minnesota Timberwolves)

Who does Conley remind of you so far? I see a lot of Jason Kidd. Steve Nash if he improves his shooting.

He needs to get stronger before he goes to the NBA, or he'll get posted up by a lot of guards in that league. I can't compare him to Kidd because of the size difference.

You know, I am completely astonished at how damn good Mike Jr. has been for us this year. To be honest, I didn't have the highest of expectations of him coming in to make such huge contributions. With Jamar already returning at PG, I figured Conley would be a nice guard to come of the bench and spend much of the year learning. I really hope he doesn't submit to the temptation that is surely gonna be there to head off to the NBA this summer. But I'm not selfish, I can't imagine turning down the lure of a multi-million dollar contract. He has a chance to become something even more special if he comes back, but he needs to do what is best for him. I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy these last games this season and hope that he decides to return.

our shortest player tallied a game-high 3 blocks against xavier and a team-high 7 rebounds against tennessee. :yow1:

Yep, with 4 offensive rebounds among those - plus 6 assists with only 1 turnover against the Vols' pressure, along with 2 steals. And he managed to play 34 minutes despite the early foul trouble. His basketball IQ is amazing for a freshman.

I don't think Conley is like Kidd at all. Kidd is much stronger physically, and they both attack defenses in different ways. Conley probes, where as Kidd looks back and spots holes.

I think his pg style is a lot like Nash, though Conley doesn't have near the scoring touch that Nash has. However, in terms of passing the ball and how they attack a defense, Nash and Conley seem the most similar. It's just the way they both use the dribble to penetrate and either find an open big underneath or kick it out to an open man behind the three point line.

They both do this extremely well.

Sidekick? no more: OSU?s Conley shines
Leadership, ability to make key plays sets freshman guard apart.

By Mike Jensen

of the Philadelphia Inquirer

SAN ANTONIO ? With the second half about to begin Thursday, Mike Conley Jr. was jabbering away to a teammate.
The other guy looked a little uptight. But Conley was wearing his usual half-smile ? as if he hadn?t noticed the Buckeyes were down by 17 points to Tennessee at halftime.
Heading into Saturday?s NCAA South Regional final against Memphis, the secret?s out: The top-ranked Buckeyes can play without Greg Oden ? not as well, but they can do it.
But Oden?s sidekick, the freshman point guard ? there?s the indispensable one.

Conley is no longer a secret
Oden isn?t only fabulous freshman for 34-3 Buckeyes

SAN ANTONIO ? Long before the Ohio State basketball season started, all the buzz was about this phenomenal high school player the Buckeyes were getting from Indianapolis.

Everybody assumed that meant Greg Oden.

And although the seven-foot Oden has been outstanding, his high school teammate at Lawrence North has stepped out of that considerable shadow and made a name for himself, as well.

Mike Conley Jr., who has played on the same team with Oden since their middle school days, has willed the Buckeyes through some tough spots, and taken the team on his back on a number of occasions.
