PG Desi "DJ" Carton (transfer to Marquette)

People want him to return, as do I, but there is no denying that the team is playing better without him.

I think the recent schedule has a bit to do with it:

Rutgers has one road win all season. It was at 13th place Nebraska.

Purdue, Indiana, and scUM are 9th, 10th, and 11th in the B1G.

Wisconsin was a blowout loss.

 you think that his mental health issues caused all the turnovers and missed shots by the rest of the team. Carton is not a true PG but he certainly can play the position better than Washington when he had to plus he was probably the best outside shooter on the team. And as the above post pointed out scheduling probably had a little bit to do with the team "playing better without him". If you really want him to return why would you make that statement.

Let me clarify. I want him to return to normalcy. I don't care what path that takes. I couldn't care less if that path includes OSU in any way, shape, or form. My only thoughts are for the well being of the young man, not the well being of the institution. Long after you, me, and Desi are 6 feet under, OSU will still be OSU.

i understand why fans have been pessimistic about the possibility of carton's return. some are even more pessimistic because of ho1tmann's statements yesterday. thing is, in light of carton's situation, what do fans think carton's return to the team would look like? ho1tmann isn't going to offer to the media and the fans anything that assumes carton's return to the court. certainly nothing concrete. that would not be healthy for carton.

my guess is everyone involved is going to take it one day at a time and then make a declaration based on what's best for carton. maybe that means a return this season, maybe a return for next season, or maybe a transfer. maybe carton returns to the court this season and then transfers after. i don't know. the only thing i think i know is that burdening carton with definitive statements to the press isn't good for anyone. tresselesque coachspeak is the only way to go here.
