I've seen Noopy play 6 or 7 times. Where am I off on Noopy? Have you seen him play?

See post 224! No I have not seen him play in person but since you have seen him play 6-7 times I am sure you know more than the people who put him on the first team all-state team even though it was Class B.

We are all entitled to our own opinions but as Junkie stated above two people seeing him at the same time would have different opinions of his playing ability. That is even true with coaches. Why do certain players get offered by certain coaches and not offered by others?

I guess I just trust the people who put him on the first team a little more than your evaluation.

I guess the suprise by most of Crater's ranking is how a prospect can go from a 5 star prospect to a 3 star in a matter of 2-3 AAU tournaments.

Thats why I mention his high school season. The national scouts don't get a chance to go out and see these kids play high school games. Often times, they go by what they are told by local coaches and local scouts. I *do* think his high school season is a reason.

It will be interesting to see where Telep has him. I bet he drops but not as far as Rivals. I agree that moving him out of the top 100 is pretty ridiculous.

From what I've seen of him, he's going to be the glue that sticks a talented team together. Based on what Ohio State has coming in for '07 and '08, they aren't going to need a Mike Conley Jr. (not that I'm ready to concede that Noopy isn't in his league just yet). They need the type of player that will be unselfish, get other players involved and hit the open jumper. With Offutt, Mullins, Buford and Babbit putting points on the board, the last thing this team needs is a me-first point guard. From that standpoint, Crater is top point guard on the board for Ohio State. Maybe Rivals and other services wouldn't like him as the 'anchor' for a class, but he's the perfect 'piece' for this class, and that's just about all that really matters.

Kelvin Grady was Class B. Is he a decent point guard? Why didn't he get player of the year over Noopy?

And just curious Tez, Spartan or Wolverine? Because you stink of something bitter.
What PoY year did Noopy get? If he did win an award, it would probably be for the junior class, which Grady wasn't part of (he was a senior).

Kelvin Grady outplayed him in the head to head meeting. Don't get me wrong Crater is really good he is not 5 star status, but he is not a 3 star. More like a medium 4 star. The class of 08 in Mi does suck, but 09 is going to be huge.

Regardless of everyone's opinion of Crater and his weaknesses and strengths.....some people who most likely have more experience recognizing talent felt that Crater was worthy of an offer including Thad Matta, Lute Olsen, Billy Donovan, Bill Self and Tom Izzo just to name a few who I believe can be trusted when evaluating talent. :wink2: End of discussion. 3 star or 5 star.....I will take him.

Thank you for explaining it to the guys! They don't seem to grasp the fact that Matta knows talent when he sees it.

i see so many bad habits, and things to be worked on there....

thats the thing about conley, he only had two bad habits. one was his floor postioning and the other was a tendency to use and extra bounce before he picked up the ball. at this point he looks like more of a project than i initially thought. looks like a great baller, but has some work to do on being a basketball player...
from the way back machine...

Some pretty cool stuff I found, a player spotlight with a video interview

Link

One game FSW(Craters team he is #10) vs. Frankenmuth which is the link, and there are 2 other games, the one against Powers Catholic was a game where he had 16 and 6 and they were the number 3 team in teh state...Also there is a game from AAU with King of the hill...

Link

After watching these films, and really seeing Noopy for more than just a highlight here or there, we are gettig a very fine, player, that while streaky can hit from the outside, can take care of the ball, is a great passer, will play defense, and can create off the bounce for his teammates, he is passive at times in terms of creating and scoring the ball, but when he does he does very well...Playing with the guys we have coming in for 08' and before he will just fine and still Rivals having him as a 3 star is a crime...

Also he is playing with Mullens, Gates, and Roe this weekend, so I am excited to see how he does...

As many have stated, but I will just reiterate, Crater will be just fine, he is a pass first pg and when you have guys that you have never played with it is hard to get a feel for what they are going to do and where they are going to be at...Yes he has flaws in his games, and can play too out of control and try and fit passes in where they don't belong kinda like Brett Farve on a basketball court, but he has another year to work on his game and he is going to have plenty of talent surrounding him at tOSU...
