PG Anthony Crater (transfer to South Florida & Georgetown College)

Crater isn't near as fast or controlled as Conley IMO. I think Crater probably has a better dribble, though from what I've seen he might dribble too much waiting for a play to develop. I think they both have equal vision for what's going on, though Conley seemed more decisive with the ball. Both are below average to average shooters IMO, though they both have seemingly good strokes. I'd expect maybe 6 pts and 4 assists per game from Crater as a freshman, give or take how he develops consistency on his shot.

How does Anthony Crater compare to Conley Jr.?

Do you think that he will develop his offensive game (shot, more scoring)?

You cannot compare these two players at this stage.....Conley was a special player and Crater will not bring to the floor what Conley did. It will take some time for Crater to develop all areas of his game. Crater is best at finding the open man at this point.

I think you can compare the two coming out of HS

Conley wasn't nearly regarded as a Top 5 pick coming out of high school. He was rated in the top 30. Both need to work on their jump shots. Both like to distribute the ball.

I am going to have to disagree with this.....Conley was considered by some to be the best PG in that class......Crater is no where near Conley in all phases of the game.....one word describes Crater......raw.....Conley was polished and in control coming out of HS.

conley had the same issues with the extra dribble early on. something that he improved on vastly through the year

agreed, though crater doesnt and wont play with oden. yes hes got mullens but they have not been playing together since what the 7th grade. something has to be said about the big man making his guards better. but maybe the guard was making th ebig man better, time will tell. i tend to believe big men make guards a lot better than they are.

Conley's decision making was phenomenal. Crater may develop that later. Don't forget how good Conley's defense was here as well. Maybe Noopy can put on 10-12 pounds and gain a bit more confidence. What we will need from Noopy is outstanding defense, the ability to make plays for the shooters and commit very few turnovers. On paper and up until now he appears to be on pace to do all of those things for us here. Matta can only help him develop.

Not sure why everyone is so interested in comparing Crater to Conley. Yeah, both run the point and have some similar characteristics, but Conley was a once a decade or two type player. If Crater can bring 3/4 the production that Conley did I will be happy.

Exactly. To keep Conley's abilities in perspective, just ask yourself who was the last point guard for Ohio State that was drafted in the top 5 after his frosh season.

I think most on this board realize that Conley was a rare player and Crater does not have to fill his shoes, he will have time to develop around very talented players. I liked the way Noopy responded on the AAU circuit after a below average start this summer......it tells me he has the desire and work ethic to continue to improve and not be comfortable with his game.

Free video from some camps of Noopy Uploaded July 2
ScoutingOhioWrapUpVideoFree

I f this is a repeat sorry I didnot see it.

I like the music choice for the video. kind of like a Peanuts-Snoopy piano sound.

Read this stuff it is free now.Free Bucknuts

Crater says he was coasting which resulted in lackluster performances at recent camps and that he will do WHATEVER he needs to do for OHIO STATE. That is why he is going where he can grow and mature to better prepare for the Bucks. He was totally informed of all transactions by tOSU staff before they were made public about OSU and PJ Hill. Crater knows that he will have to step up his game.
He referred to Hill as an insurance policy. But he knows that it is more. He will not be "given" the reins of the team but will have to earn it or he will be insurance to Hill.
