Anthony Crater, a potential Mr. Basketball candidate this winter, will pass up his senior year at Southwestern Academy to attend a prep school in Virginia.

Crater confirmed Tuesday that he is enrolling at Hargrave Military Academy, a college preparatory boarding school in Chatham, Va., not far from the North Carolina state line. He'll leave on Aug. 26.

Crater verbally committed to Ohio State last year and said the university encouraged him to attend the prep school.

"I need to get myself prepared for college," said Crater, a 6-foot-2 point guard who was heavily recruited. "I'm not saying I can't do that at Southwestern. I just think I have a chance to be better prepared if I go to Virginia for the prep school thing. It's nothing to do with grades."

Excellent court vision. The military school can only help him with his discipline, I'm not saying its currently bad just that the strict regimen more closely relates to college life.

His videos show that he is taller than I imagined. He needs to continue to work on his ball handling but his quicks and court vision are awesome already.

He will team up with Negedu (Arizona) and a couple of touted '09 players (Luke Apfeld, Devan Bailey). I'm sure there will be other DI players on his roster. Brewster was second in the New England private school tournament, losing to Bridgton of Maine. Just like Eric Wallace last year, he'll face plenty of talent from his teammates and his opponents to prepare him for college ball.

I couldn't care less about the points, because the Buckeyes will have no shortage of scorers next season. Eleven dimes? Now, that's sweeeet!

I concur. When Crater gets here next year, we'll have:

PG: Anthony Crater / Walter Offutt / P.J. Hill
W: William Buford / Jon Diebler -- both of these guys can light it up; Diebler WILL find his shot, it's only a matter of time and he will be LIGHTS OUT
W: David Lighty / Evan Turner / Eric Wallace -- these guys are maybe more defensive specialits, but Lighty has shown he can create for himself and Turner has shown the ability to assert himself on both ends; the jury is still out on what Wallace can do at the college level.
F: Kosta Koufos (please God) / Dallas Lauderdale -- Koufos=stud. If he can hang around another year... WOW. Lauderdale is a force down low as a big body with length.
C: BJ Mullens / Kyle Madsen -- by all accounts, Mullens is a stud. He and Koufos could be a DEADLY duo; Madsen is here for depth purposes.

Crater has great vision and has a pretty good shot, better than Conley's. If can penetrate and find the open man, while hitting the occasional 3, that's all we need. How's his defense?

Brewster 83, MCI 53 (December 2, 2007)

Brewster captured the MCI Invitational Championship with a 83-53 victory over the host school. Junior Givon Crump had a game-high 21 points (5 three-pointers) and classmate Devan Bailey (Manchester, UK) played outstanding defense for the Bobcats. Bailey's defense was the spark, which allowed the Bobcats to take control of the game. Mark Lyons (Albany, NY) contributed 15 points, while Charles Abouo (Logan, UT) and Emmanuel Negedu (Kaduna, Nigeria) both had 12 points. Negedu had a team-high 14 rebounds. Anthony Crater added 8 points, but more importatny continues to run the Brewster offense efficiently. Charles Abouo was named to the All-Tournament team and Emmanuel Negedu was named MVP of the event for his play on both ends of the court.
