Brewster 121, Kimball Union 84 (January 25, 2008)

The boys varsity basketball team traveled to Meriden, New Hampshire and defeated Kimball Union Academy, 121-84. KUA, which was very well-coached and disciplined knocked down seven three-pointers in the first twenty minutes to trail, 65-50 at the half. KUA enjoyed tremendous fan support from their community and made the journey to their cozy gym a lot of fun for the Bobcats. Brewster was led by Emmanuel Negedu (26 points) and Mark Lyons (25 points), while Kellen Thornton (15 points), point guard Anthony Crater (14 points and 10 assists), and Charles Abouo (13 points) also played well. KUA received strong games from Cam Sutton (23 points), John Planer (21 points), and Matt Kanne (16 points). Brewster improves to 19-2 on the season.



Looks like a very solid game for Crater...

Brewster 127, Hebron 41 (January 30, 2008)

Brewster improved to 20-2 with a victory over Hebron Academy. All thirteen players scored in the contest. Junior Givon Crump had a game-high 26 points (4 three-pointers), while classmate Luke Apfeld added 23 points. Justin Johnson and Charles Abouo each contributed 18 points and Chauncey Gilliam had 12 points for the Bobcats. Brewster hosts MCI on Saturday evening at 6pm.

Brewster 73, MCI 62 (February 2, 2008)

Brewster improved to 21-2 with a 73-62 victory over MCI. Brewster was led by Emmanuel Negedu with 20 points, while Trey Blue added 13. Mark Lyons chipped in 10 points for the Bobcats. [[B: Anthony Crater], Devan Bailey, and Givon Crump all played well in the victory. Brewster hosts three-time defending NEPSAC Class A champion Bridgton Academy on Monday evening. Game time is 5:30pm.

Brewster 99, Bridgton 70 (February 4, 2008)

After falling behind 9-1 to start the game, Brewster turned up the intensity on the defensive end to lead the three-time defending NEPSAC Class A champion Bridgton Academy 56-32 at halftime. Brewster was led by Charles Abouo with 18 points (four three-pointers), while Mark Lyons added 17 points. Captain Emmanuel Negedu had 16 points and eight rebounds, while Kellen Thornton contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds. Brewster received strong point guard play from Anthony Crater (10 points, five assists) and Max Huc (seven assists). With the 99-70 victory, Brewster improves to 22-2 on the season (11-1 in NEPSAC Class A).

Brewster 62, Summit 41 (February 7, 2008)

Brewster improved to 23-2 with a 62-41 victory over Summit Prep (CA) at the National Prep School Invitational. Brewster was led by Mark Lyons with 14 points, while Charles Abouo added 11 points (including a pair of three-pointers). Brewster will play undefeated Findlay Prep of Las Vegas, NV at 9:45pm on Friday. The event is being held at the University of Rhode Island's Keaney Gym.

Brewster 58, Findlay 95 (February 8, 2008)

Mark Lyons was the lone bright spot for the Bobcats as he knocked down 6-10 from three-point range and had a game-high 29 points. Brewster was dominated by Findlay in every facet of the game. It was an old-fashioned whoopin'. Brewster drops to 23-3 with the loss and will host Northfield Mt Hermon on Wednesday, February 13th.

Brewster 95, South Kent 83 (February 16, 2008)

Brewster defeated a tough South Kent team, 95-83, to win the 22nd Annual New Hampton Invitational Tournament. Brewster has won the tournament title in each of the past two years. Brewster was led by Mark Lyons (Schenectady, NY) and Emmanuel Negedu (Kaduna, Nigeria) who each had 27 points. Negedu added a game-high 16 rebounds. Charles Abouo (Logan, UT) had 15 points, while Trey Blue (South Holland, IL) chipped in 12 points in the victory. Mark Lyons was named the Most Valuable Player of the event for his strong play over the weekend. Brewster improves to 25-3 on the season.

Brewster 78, Winchendon 66 (February 15, 2008)

Brewster advanced to the championship game of the New Hampton School Invitational Tournament with a 78-66 victory over the Winchendon School. Brewster was led by Mark Lyons (Schenectady, NY) with 26 points, 6 assists, and 7 rebounds. Trey Blue (South Holland, IL) added 16 points and [[B: Emmanuel Negedu] (Kaduna, Nigeria) contributed 15 points. Brewster forced 29 turnovers in the contest. With the victory, Brewster improves to 24-3 on the season and will play South Kent School in the championship game on Saturday at 6pm.

Brewster 85, Tilton 79 (February 18, 2008)

Brewster was led by Mark Lyons (Schenectady, NY) with 25 points, while recent Fordham-verbal Trey Blue (South Holland, IL) added 22 points, including four three-pointers. Captain Emmanuel Negedu (Kaduna, Nigeria) had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Anthony Crater (Flint, MI) chipped in 10 points and four assists.

It is great that Crater has grown some, at 6'3" and 175lbs, he will not be undersized at all in the B10. The fact that he is playing with such a talented group of teamates is great as it should have honed his pass first mentality. The Bucks will have plenty of scoring options next year, and Noopy driving and dishing will bring back an element somewhat lacking in this years group.
