PG Aaron Craft (B1G 6th MOY '11, Def POY '12, Acad AA, Dolomiti En. TR - Italy)

'Why did you waste your money?': What Aaron Craft would want his statue outside of Ohio State's basketball arena to say
Ohio State coach Thad Matta famously said he would build a statue of David Lighty outside the Schottenstein Center. Where would he put Crafts? "Right next to David's." Read more »

Ohio State senior Aaron Craft: In his own head, in his team's huddle and, dude, trying to enjoy his final run
"I remember in the past seeing how people that knew this was going to be their last year, how it changed them, how they weren't the same player. And I was like, 'I don't want that to be me. That can't be me.' It hurt the team, it hurt them, it just wasn't a good approach. And I think I was so concerned with not worrying about that, that’s who I became," Craft said. Read more »

Great way for Craft to end his Senior year, that big home win over MSU. But that was so fitting for Craft to come up with big defensive plays to win a game when the offense was plodding along and FTs were being missed right and left.

As a Buckeye fan, I really hope Craft didn't just end his Senior year. I'd really like to see him play another 4-7 games (understanding 7 is a real long shot).

Honoring Craft: Craft took over sole possession of the Big Ten record for career steals Sunday, and he made some vintage defensive plays late in his senior-day victory.
Despite Izzo's anger over the loss, he took a moment to give Craft and fellow senior Lenzelle Smith Jr. a nod.
“You've got to love Craft. I mean, I do,” Izzo said. “I think those two guys are all what's right with college basketball, they're great kids. I think they stand for everything that I would want a player to stand for.
“It was an honor to coach against (Craft) for four years. He represents everything that I think is right. And he struggled a little bit this year because of a lot of different reasons, but he made some big plays and had a very good game on senior night. And a kid like that deserves to, and that was kind of his staple. So probably the poetic justice way to end the game was the way he did it.”

I think we will be lucky to see him play in another 4 games in an OSU uniform, 7 is really a stretch. But I get what you are saying. I think we all would. He is the type of kid that would prove me wrong. I am sure all of Buckeye Nation will look back on Craft's time at OSU once he is gone and wish we had him for a little longer. Guys that play that hard for 40 minutes night in and night out just don't grow on trees and are hard to replace. What he has done in his career at OSU is remarkable. Despite his shortcomings as a shooter, the total package reserves him a spot to be mentioned with some of the best to ever don the S&G.

Props to Izzo for recognizing Craft and Smith. You do not see that much from opposing coaches anymore and Tom Usually does not hand out accolades to opposing players very often.

While I love Craft as a player, and everything I have ever heard about him shows he represents himself and tOSU extremely well, I am not sure I would mention him in the same breath as the best to ever don the S&G. Best defenders? Yes. Best overall players? I can't see him in the top 10.

Yep... While I'm sure glad we got to watch him play four years for our Buckeyes and not in some other uniform and as much as he has meant to Ohio State he isn't in the same league as Jerry Lucas, Gary Bradds, Dennis Hopson, Jim Jackson, Michael Redd, Evan Turner... just to name a few.
