PF Othello Hunter (Maccabi Tel Aviv BC)

I respectfully disagree. He reminds me a lot of George Reese, back in the late 90s. The main differences being Jim O's offense focused on getting the ball inside much more than Matta's, and Reese never had to post up on centers with Ken Johnson in the game. Hunter routinely gets the center on him (due to KK's lack of aggression or Twigs is in the game), and he is just overmatched. When the Buckeyes get Hunter in a groove, he is very effective. I just think it's difficult for Hunter to get in the flow of the offense with the focus on the guards and 3-point shooting. I really think our offensive sets would be much more effective if we made it a "rule" than KK or OH had to touch the ball at least once during each possession.
I don't have a dog in this discussion:) but you have just stated the reasons why he is not a true post up player. Oden was a post up player. OH it is just a very athletic PF. He has never really posted up during the past two seasons. He has gotten most of his points from stickbacks or from his little 10' jump shot. If anyone on this team should be the post up player it would be KK.

Yeah, I guess you make a good point, but I guess what I'm trying to say is I do think he's a good post player. He just suffers from the offensive play calling and a lack of a more powerful center. I'm probably not explaining this well, but it's similar to Michael Jordan was an excellent post player, when he posted up a guard or small forward. I think a more dominant center would allow OH to post up players more his size - and then he would be very effective.

Unfortunately, due to the number of years he has played organized basketball, he has not had time to refine certain skills... post skills would be one of them.

We saw the "good Hunter" last night......excellent game on the defensive side for Othello......he can be a force when he remains active out there.....lets hope he can build on this performance against MSU on Sunday....we will need him on the boards against MSU.

Yeah he seemed to really concentrate after missing the pair he missed with about 5 minutes or so left...
Yep... after he bricked the pair with 5 minutes left each time he went back to the foul line you could feel the air being sucked out of the building by the crowd... way to step up Othello!

The 3 he blocked got was pretty swee too... got the crowd energized.
