PF Jared Sullinger (2x 1st Team ALL B1G & All American, Anyang KGC, S.Korea)

He had 27/17 last night with 11 of those boards coming on the offensive end. He's going to be a monster. He has the potential to come in and have a bigger impact than Oden, Mullens or Koufos IMO. Jared has been man handling the competition.

Rebounding and defense are so dependant upon desire that I wonder sometimes why tOSU has such problems rebounding yet seem to defend well. I well understand that playing the zone as the have the last couple of years makes rebounding tough, but the guys just have to want the ball more than anyone else. I never played at anywhere near these guys level, but you have to think that the ball is yours and go get it. Oden seemed to have that, but very few others recently had that desire to get the ball.

Sullinger has everything needed to dominate at the collegiate level. He is obviously strong and has a good head for the game. He has good footwork and really soft hands. He handles and shoots well for a big man. He seems to play pretty good positional defense and seems to like to defend, to a point. While I think it is a little strong statement to think that he'll have a bigger impact than Oden, Koufos or Mullens, I can't say that it is outlandish to say so. If Oden had had two hands, I would even disagree, but he did not. I think that Sullinger will be more College ready because of his competition and coaching than Mullens and I think he is more willing to use what God gave him and play big, unlike Koufos, so he very well may have a bigger impact.

Mullens isn't averaging 9 ppg. He is averaging like 7.6 ppg. Buford is averaging 9 ppg now, perhaps you've mistaken Buford's scoring average for that of Mullens.

I watched Jared and Northland play Chane Behanan and Aiken on Saturday ... Jared is kind of like a slightly shorter and huskier version of Terence Dials ... very good rebounder, nice touch around the basket, surprisingly good ballhandling skills, great hands, not overly athletic. Jared quietly had a big night even though he didn't seem to dominate the game - he spent a good deal of time on the bench due to foul trouble and poor conditioning. Getting better able to run the floor and be stronger & bouncier without losing weight should be his priorities before entering college if he expects to be 1 & done. He can't do anything about his height - he was barely taller than Chane Behanan, who is listed at 6'7". If Behanan is actually 6'6" as some have said, then we should call Jared 6'7".

Sullinger gets the last laugh in Northland win

KETTERING ? Jeremy Tyler of San Diego (Calif.) Senior captured the dunk-a-thon skills competition. But Jared Sullinger and his Columbus Northland teammates saw the big picture and came away smiling.

Sullinger scored 21 of his game-high 23 points in the second half and dunked three times as the Northland Vikings sailed to a 56-39 victory over the Cavers in the Flyin' to the Hoop tournament at James S. Trent Arena on Saturday night.

Tyler countered with 22 points, including seven dunks, before fouling out with 2:18 to go. He screamed at the refs as he departed, and he could be excused for his temper. It was a very long day for the Cavers.

They boarded a jet from San Diego at 6:30 a.m., (Pacific time) on Saturday, had a half-hour layover in Denver, arrived in Dayton at 3:30 p.m. and tipped off at 6:15 p.m. in a game that featured two of the nation's top juniors in the 6-9 Sullinger (Ohio State) and 6-11 Tyler (Louisville).

How would the fatigue factor impact San Diego?

"We're about to find out," coach Martin Thomas said. "I told 'em, 'Just play hard. Leave it all on the floor.' "

Sullinger exited at 4:53 of the first quarter with two fouls and sat the remainder of the half, then exploded in the second half. Tyler put on a show, but it wasn't enough as the Cavers ran out of gas.

"We knew it was going to be physical," Northland coach Satch Sullinger said. "I just wish the refs would've let 'em play since the top two players in the country were going after each other. These kids are getting ready to go big time."

Northland's Jared Sullinger fends off Eastmoor's Anthony Keels for one of his 23 rebounds in the game.

With 31 points and 23 rebounds, Jared Sullinger left the largest impression on a sellout crowd that packed Mifflin yesterday for the City League boys championship game.

He was at the game this afternoon with his father behind the Buckeye bench. Wish he could've been sitting in the first row beside Thad and his assistants, ready to go in with D.Thomas. Could have used them today.
