I was just thinking. Anyone think it's possible Sullinger develops into a Josh Smith type player?

Josh Smith is 6'9" 235. Sullinger is 6'7" 220. I know Sullinger is working on developing that inside/outside game that Smith has currently. I'm not sure Sullinger is as instinctive a defender as Smith is, though I could easily see Sullinger being better offensively at the same stage in their careers.

Sullinger is bigger than 220, and no don't see that...Those two are totally different players...Sullinger is a guy like Kevin Love, Terrance Dials, Big Baby Davis, etc...Wide wide bases, not overly athletic, great ball skills in the paint, can get any kind of position they want, can hit the 15 footer, etc...

Josh Smith is long and lean...Has great jumping ability, Sullinger is not a shot blocker just like the guys I mentioned above aren't shot blockers...If Sullinger grows to be 6'11'' with his base and ability to move guys in the paint he will be very very tough to defend, and will be heading towards a shaq type player, but just not that tall and built as Shaq...Right now he has some PF skills, but I see him as more of a center type, as he really doesn't have the ball handling skills or the athleticism of say a guy like Tim Duncan...

The way he is developing and his knowledge of the game at this stage, it would not suprise me to see him as a 1 and done player at tOSU.....he is clearly dominating his peers.....I would like to see him go up a level and play against some 2009 elite.....
like you mention he is playing against what 16 year olds, thats hardly major college comp. granted he is young two but he is physically mature and uses the physicality of his game to his advantage. at this point hes not physical enough to play this game in the big ten. jared knows this, thad knows this, satch knows this...

Some nice words about Sullinger here:

Scout.com: Rankings Week: 2010 Top 15

If we were to play pick up and have to choose sides, Jared Sullinger would be the No. 1 pick. If Thompson is the ?down the road guy?, Sullinger is the ?now? kid. He?s the most dominant player on possibly the best 16-and-under AAU team in the country. With a personality akin to Glen Davis and a body to boot, no one has stopped him yet. One college head coach said he ?punishes people? which properly describes the collisions he initiates in the paint. Once he trims up his body, the sky is the limit.

Deshaun Thomas is also listed in their current top 10.

Sullinger proves to be elite...........Jared has been performing at a high level this summer on the AAU circuit. Sullinger will be attending the Nike Hoop Jamboree in St. Louis, the NBA Players Association Top 100 camp and possibly Amare Stoudemire big man camp near the end of the month in the next few weeks.
