Nebraska is the comp I keep going back to.

They had a day and time when they could get elite talent to come to Lincoln. Once that changed, the remoteness of that place and lack of a natural recruiting ground bit them in the ass hard.

I see a lot of similarity at Penn State. Pennsylvania doesn't turn out the volume of top end guy like it used to and the DMV isn't theirs anymore either. You have to probably over pay a tad on NIL and who is their Daddy Morebucks? I ask because it isn't Ohio when everyone in the state is a huge fan of the one school. Philly is a pro sports town. Pitt hates their guts and the middle is a vast wilderness.

They fuck this hire up and they could have just had their Solich moment before joining Nebraska down in the light heavyweight division.
Keep talking dirty to me

It doesn't help that they are already hurting for money, and they don't have much room to bring in more cash by raising tuition, as the in-state tuition for PSU is high enough that a lot of in-state kids find it is cheaper to go out of state. So paying off Franklin and then hiring some other big name is not really a sound financial decision.
