I think it proves his line couldn't do enough for him in games that mattered.....and he must've accumulated stats the Michigan way. That and he's always been a home run guy.....so rushing for 200 in a game looks like the line is good, until you see he had runs of 78 and 94 and then a whole bunch of nothing.

That reminds me of the Barry Sanders stat lines from back in the day. I always felt bad for him, and resented Emmitt Smith for that reason

I never had any feelings one way or another about backs who had good offensive lines, but I believe that Barry Sanders was the greatest back of all time. Some of his best runs were spectacular efforts where he would juke 2 tackles and break 2 more before being overwhelmed for a 0-2 yard gain. I think most of us are probably aware that Chris Spielman calls Barry the GOAT; though his propensity for having his teammates' backs is practically legendary, it's still worth noting.
One thing is absolutely certain. Barry was far better than any back that ever came out of Crappy Valley.

Complaining about a holding non-call against *ichigan. Some whining posts, then a guy jumps all in, sarcastically, I'm assuming, and says Penn State should have won the game. A couple of guys also assume the one post was sarcastic, but they go with the "It was a huge momentum change!" argument.
Ha - then one guy says there might have been a non-call on a Penn State long play. Another guy doesn't attack the idea (he finds it unlikely, though), but he makes sure he attacks the guy, anyway.
A couple of guys respond that it wasn't holding (surprise, surprise!). One guy even says that it should have been defensive holding.

Imagine if he had been particularly fond of playing football. Sanders was the best Payton and Brown... Sayers, maybe.
On the other hand Earl Campbell was a different animal.
Might be an interesting study, best RB of any particular year... decade. .. whatever arbitrary time.

The best will be subjective depending on the decade. Earl Campbell was great, but would you put him above Franco Harris or OJ? Barry Sanders was great, but some would argue for Emmitt Smith.
And then would you use NFL as your barometer or the NFL? Because that's an entirely different conversation. Because then you have a large number of guys who had stellar CFB careers, but flamed out in the NFL or their NFL careers just didn't match their CFB greatness(i.e. Archie Griffin, Ron Dayne, Reggie Bush, Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, Billy Sims, Mike Rozier and Ricky Williams)
