I remember a story I heard about Jim Brown. A reporter asked a former NFL player of yesteryear how many yards Jim Brown would have in today’s game. I think the period was the ‘90’s or around 2000 or so. The former player stated that Jim Brown would have had around 1200 yards for the year. The reporter balked and reminded him that Brown had over1800 yards in only 12 games once in his career and now NFL teams now play 16 games, how could he only rush for 1200. The former players response…”Yeah I hear you and you make a valid point but you have to remember Jim is now almost 60 years old. That is how much respect Jim Brown has with his colleagues…..Jim Brown looked great running ahead. Then, after the play, he'd be slow to get up and you'd swear he could barely make it back to the huddle. Next play Brown would run over 3-4 guys for 6 yards. He'd slowly get up and would again look like it was a strain to get back to the huddle. He'd repeat that for the entire 60 minutes. He was amazing.
