Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Wasn't ole Jer-Bear investigated for this before he retired? Like right before?

He was. And then he suddenly decided to retire at the age of 55, in his prime - right after winning the award for the nation's best assistant coach - if I remember correctly. Its almost as though he reached an agreement with the powers-that-be to step aside in order to avoid being reported to the authorities or bringing any negative light to the university or more importantly, Joesus' football program or something....... I also remember some reports about Joesus giving a very brief and very chilly speech at Sandusky's retirement celebration. Like he was upset or disgusted with him or something.... But hey, 409, right?

Damn right he did.

I seem to remember that there was quite a bit of speculation that Jer Bear "retired" because he wanted to go after a HC job, but Joesus refused to vouche for him or use his influence to help him in any way. That seems weird to me. I wonder why he wouldn't??

Meh. The Big Ten refused to vouch for Penn State or use their influence to help them in 1994.
It's kinda like this movie "The Platform". Dumb movie, but the people "up there" won't help you and will spit on you and make things really bad for you, so you should do the same to the people "down there".

First of all, this poster, "Marylovesthelions" is all over the place. On Monday, at 6:34 AM, she posted this thread: https://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threa...-he-is-the-right-coach-for-penn-state.322787/
She comes out as this big supported of Franklin.
Then, at 8:55 PM Monday evening, she came out with this thread: https://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threads/more-thoughs-on-franklin.322833/
Basically, "EFF JAMES FRANKLIN!!!" Neither thread is very long. Nothing crazy, yet, just some good arguments over whether he's the right guy to be coach.
The only reason I bring this up is one guy in the second thread brings this up:
Your fun fact for the day:

In the past six years, James Franklin has won as many major bowl games (two) as Pitt has since 1938. Two major bowl victories in the past 83 seasons for Pitt: the 1977 and the 1982 Sugar Bowls.
I think if you constantly compare yourselves to Pitt, you will never and CAN NEVER be "elite".

Penn State plays tonight, but you really wouldn't know it from Nittany Lounge.
Here's a screenshot of their list of threads:

The first thread is just the dude saying that the staff is doing a great job.
Then 2 threads about John O'Neill retiring. I'm hoping they have a list of John O'Neill highlights. Nothing, yet.
Then a couple of unrelated threads.
Then, thread #6 is a link to an article about the predictions of Penn State vs. Purdue. Check out how many replies there have been.

Me, on my way to BWI to see the complaints about the refs so far for this Purdue game:

It looks like most are saying that Penn State benefited from the bad officiating. Some Purdue bloke also came in to poke the referee bear.
Right after the targeting and PI on Purdue's first TD drive (when I made that comment) there was a page or two of bitching and comments like "PSU 7, Refs 7, Purdue 3"

I don't know how you could debate that PI. The targeting was weak but it was targeting by the letter of the rule.
