Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Re: Barkley and 20 touches ~ maybe he just doesn't have the stamina. Would love to see his stats for the 4th quarter. Mentioned this in the Game Thread the final (5) minutes ped looked like they were paralyzed. Part of it was psychological thinking up by (15) hey this game is over and probably switched to cruise control.

Sadly I believe the exact same thing happened to the Buckeyes last year against ped ie up by 14 entering the 4th qtr, dominating game stats they basically phoned it in.

The big difference ped had no reason to be overconfident other than stupidity as the Buckeyes were dominating the game except for turnovers/st.

>

Remember ped winning last year propelled them to basically blow out their remaining opponents. Expect the Buckeyes to do the same as in take no prisoners!
In the 4th Q against OSU Barkley had the following:

Runs
-7
6
-3
-7
-2
5

He was targeted twice in the passing game - he recorded one reception for no gain. The other pass was inclomplete

He returned a kickoff 8 yards.

That means, in the 4th Q - PSU's best player gained a total of zero yards on 8 touches

If that doesn't scream Heisman, I don't know what does.

I was SO close to giving up..
I'm glad I didn't.

Yeah, because we know that all of those were going to result in touchdowns...

Losing by 2 touchdowns is, apparently, the definition of "routed"..

They're still pissed about this.
Ha - this reminds me of my favorite Gameday sign: "I was going to make a joke about the playoffs, but Penn State wouldn't get it." The interviewer didn't get the joke.

What they seem to omit from their "playoff logic" in drawing up last year's outcome is that they lost two games to osu's one, one of which was to a mediocre pitt team and the other a total thrashing by michigan. so, if they do happen to win out, they're going to miss out on the playoffs again, and the tears will flow.

Rather than Sparty punching them down into 3rd place in the division, it almost might be more satisfying to have them win out and the cult have to sit through championship week listening to everyone saying it's a foregone conclusion that the Ohio State-Wiscy winner punches their playoff ticket.

The sooner we leave this bullsh!t, rigged conference for the ACC, the better!!!

We've got a very long history with scUM though. PSU didn't beat the Buckeyes when the stadium was built. PSU wasn't kicked out of the B10 100 years ago. PSU didn't go over a decade with us swapping the majority of B10 titles - they've won the Conference just 4 times since '93... and '16 was the first in 10 years.
The University of Chicago has more B10 titles. In that timeframe, Wisconsin has won it 6 times. Sparty has won 3 in the last decade.

in fairness to me, my only argument there was that saying 1 victory in 8 tries wasn't a legit argument one way or another rival wise :). no way no how is state penn our rival. not even a little bit. not even close to being a little bit. not even in a parallel universe.

In his team's biggest game of the year, against their highest ranked opponent, with a division title and probable playoff spot on the line, Barkley [Mark May] his pants. How does that get overlooked because he rushed for 172 against Akron?

akron is in ohio. ohio state is in ohio. so... really the yardage should be added up and averaged between the two games and judged that way.

lol cracks me up they say they pretty much owned the game until we blocked a kick and JT went nuts...

well, they are actually half right here. they owned the game until jt went nuts. which began about the 20 second mark in the first quarter.

Are you talking to me?
NO! My son is also named SBORT

Anybody wanna translate that mutant's email?
PENN STATE. Lost that game OSU didn't win it.
Sorry, CHUD, but 539 yards versus 283 yards of total offense disagrees. As does 39 points versus 38 points.

That yardage differential still astounds me. I know miscues and bad breaks are a part of the game, but for all intents and purposes, we should have won in a romp.

Tells me we have a pretty solid edge in talent, just have to eliminate the miscues. And figure out the goddamned special teams. And, perhaps, some competent officiating.

Should've been at a minimum 45-10 Or something close.

We have them 35 as far as I'm concerned. I was being friendly so I gave them 7 points.

2 short fields, a kick 6, an overturned INT, and a total BOGUS PI call to overturn a pick.

Winning this way is almost better anyways.. 1) it's more painful for them and 2) there's a ton to work on
Give them the kick return. They exploited our shitty kick coverage because somebody finally realized we're putting 11 guys on one side of the field. Good job.
Give them the TD on Parris fumble. They forced it, they recovered it, they threw it where our DB couldn't get it.
Not sure about Barkley's long TD run. There was a block in the back that sprung him, but it was also first down....so they had 1st and whatever the penalty is for BITB while still on our side of the 50...let's give them 3 for that.
0 points for the McSorely rushing TD. That was the one that was picked off but called for bullshit PI.
0 points for the 50/50 TD. That was the drive where they tackled Bosa in front of the ref on 3rd and 11. Call the hold, they eventually punt. Then we don't even need to get into the ignoring of the rules of how to overturn a call or if the PSU guy actually caught it.
Sure....give them that last FG.

So they scored 20. Clean up turnovers and they scored 10.

Knowing Barkley was there to return kicks, his long TD vs IU, and I think we were just straight up retarded for trying to kick off to him to start with. Yeah he earned it but that should have been avoided.

In your scenario still its 40-10 though
