ESPN piece on the lawsuit. This gonna be an ugly, long, drawn out process I think.

Court of Last Resort. You lose a six figure job, especially the way he lost his, and there is no school or corp that is going to want or need your services. He'd even have trouble getting on as a Walmart greeter.Bucklion;2352962; said:http://espn.go.com/college-football...ate-president-graham-spanier-sues-louis-freeh

The Paternos to hold off or drop their lawsuit, then he should ask the Paternos directly and not the BOT whom as a whole is the enemy of the Paternos.
So, that being said, this was likely a way to convince BOT members to be united in not being involved with lawsuits involving the NCAA.
Also, a coach who can recruit and lead like he does, is probably not going to sell alot of ideas via power point presos.
It sounds to me more like the ground work has been laid, the individual BOT people have met with him, and have either agreed or not agreed with this. But that he wants them to be clear as to what his message will be to the NCAA.
I'm pretty sure OB knows how to convince people of something and its not through PowerPoint.
This, in my opinion, was purely informational, and likely so everyone in that room knew what his message will be.
Just being clear on his stance.
And it is true, if he is trying to get NCAA leniency, then any other lawsuit against the NCAA is a potential hindrance until his process is exhausted.
The BoT meeting was held today at the Fayette campus. There was a "private executive session" where all non BoT members had to leave the room. Obie came in and gave a slide presentation on the sanctions and trying to get them reduced. One of the slides was titled 'private lawsuits DO NOT (bolded and caps) help the situation'. He finished his presentation and several members of the BoT gave him a standing ovation (you can guess which ones). This was reported in the CDT almost immediately. None of this 'private executive session' would have been known except that the BoT held the meeting in a room with large glass doors/ windows that they did not cover and they sat the press/ non BoT members in the hallway in front of these windows where they could see the slide presentation and reaction in the room. (rather convenient IMO). Anyway, that set off the firestorm with Obie siding with the Peetz, Frazier, Surma wing of the BoT.

For a group of folks that accuse the world of not waiting on FACTS they sure are good at deciding on the most limited of details...
The number of threads to read this morning at BWI is just funny as heck.
Say what you will but my long career in law enforcement tells me this was a set up, a contrived meeting using Bill O'Brien to divide and conquer or manipulate the parties of the lawsuits (or the fans who support legal action against the NCAA).
