Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Yeah, pretty sure we won the division outright.

Have you ever read comments from Pedo State fans?

I try to avoid them, but I read a Reader Mail on BTN.com and one question said that Penn State beat both Ohio State and Nebraska and those games were just basically stolen from them by the referees.

They're delusional (and can't read scoreboards).

Really, we?re doing this now? Penn State, out of all the ways you could?ve come together to make one final grand gesture about something important on the last game of the year, this year, you chose to put a giant 42 on the helmets?!

It?s not like Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti died. He?s not fighting a battle with leukemia like Chuck Pagano. He?s not Adam Taliaferro after suffering a paralyzing spinal cord injury. He wasn?t bunked up in a hospital bed somewhere after a devastating accident. He didn?t sacrifice himself for his country in battle. He was one hell of a college linebacker and a consummate team leader, and it's horrible that he suffered another knee injury and it stinks that he couldn't play in his home finale, but that happens in football - ask Matt Barkley about how much fun it was to watch the Notre Dame game from the sidelines. Mauti can rehab and come back to play in the pros, and one other thing ... HE WAS ON THE SIDELINES. If any of the players wanted to honor him, they could?ve just jogged on by for a fist bump.

Seriously, has any team been more self-congratulatory than the 2012 Penn State Nittany Lions?

After all the ?We Are ? Pissed Off? garbage and all the other bluster, and rallies, and t-shirts, and slogans, and tears, and the fawning from the fan base, and sucking up from the media ? headlined on Saturday by an embarrassing performance from ESPN analyst and newly-anointed Nittany Lion lickspittle, Brock Huard - the 2012 team missed out on a free trip, a bunch of gift cards and prizes, and a 31-13 Outback Bowl loss to South Carolina. Whoop-dee-doo.

If you want to argue that the underclassmen are sacrificing their football lives in order to play an entire career full of exhibition games, that?s one thing, and if this year?s team was in Ohio State?s current situation, then yeah, that would?ve been a true hit. Basically, Penn State didn?t suck, and because of that there are going to be memorials, book deals, banners, and an unending string of pats on the back to honor this group.

Meanwhile, continuing to be lost in all of the ridiculousness from inside the Happy Valley bubble is that the players aren?t victims in any way, shape or form, and yet they?re STILL being treated like they?re the ones in this tragedy suffering from some massive injustice.

Sacrifice? Outrage?! If anything, this group and the rest of the Penn State community should be bowing down and kissing the NCAA?s collective perky butt for even allowing there to be a football program at all ? because this very, VERY easily could?ve gone in a whole different direction. These players are on scholarship at a world-class academic institution, and they got to play college football while being elevated to an even greater god-like status.

And while we?re at it, let?s quickly get over this idea that going 8-4 mattered. 8-4, 12-0, 0-12 ? if you?re going to stick with the narrative that this group was special, the record and what happened on the field should have nothing to do with this team being a considered a success.

More than anything else, do not ever, ever lose sight of the reason that Penn State University is being punished. The ceaseless honoring of itself does just that.

It should be generally acknowledged that the NCAA made a huge error in not completely shutting down that program. Would like to have seen pictures (evidence) of dust collecting and grass over-growing that stadium.
The Cult is still there.
The up coming trials of the big three will doubtless shed even more light on the duplicity of Paterno. Which will doubtless create a new round of denials and conspiracy theories.
That should be a fun watch! :tongue2:

Well all that posturing worked, as Mauti was given an award he most defiantly did not deserve. Wasn't even first on his team in tackles.

Shazier stat line

115 tckl (70 solo) 17TFL 5 sacks 1 INT 3 FF 11 PBU 1 TD

Mauti the pissed of PSU LB because kids were harmed and his icon covered it up because Paterno good name is more important than protecting young kids from Sodomy. PSU football was used to groom these kids, but obviously not getting to play in a bowl game is way worse so lets recognize Matt and his pedestrian numbers.

96 tckl (49solo) 4 TFL 2.5 sacks 3 INT 3 FF 2 PBU

And he got his sacks v Navy Illinois and Iowa, his TFL v the same teams plus Purdue. His INTs, yup Illinois and Iowa. So he saved all his big plays for the big games so I guess I should have realized that factored in to the committees decision.

Mauti is a [censored]ing asshole. Always has been and his newfound role as lead enforcer for the Cult just reinforces that. I'm not happy that they guy has a fairly minor knee injury as his jumping up and down like a plastic [censored] doll all game attests, but I ain't exactly shedding tears for him either.

Like I've said, good luck convincing me that mutant isn't a serial killer. There's nothing going on behind those cold, dead eyes but smoldering rage.

After a slow start, Penn State wins eight of their last ten to finish 8-4. And to think so many of you were predicting a one-win season for the Nittany Lions....

Yep, those penalties were a freaking joke.

I don't think this will turn out to be the case. Yes, they overachieved this year thanks to a decent coach (and he did do a decent job) and a very, very weak conference/schedule, but I think they said in the last game telecast that something like 35 or so players were playing in their last game or something like that. That's a lot of people to lose when you can't replace most of them (except with walk-ons), and the ones you can get are 1-2* players with an occasional 3* mixed in. It didn't hurt them much this year, beyond the loss of a bowl game and national perception (whcih as the boards show means nothing to most)...but it will over the next 3-4 years.

Because no one should have to be subjected to the soggiest cereal on the lot ... They ran out of Captain Crunch at the Penn State football dining hall. The players banded together, rallied, sacrificed, and became one, choosing to go with Quisp. A plaque will be placed outside of the stadium highlighting their heroism and ability to fight through the adversity.

Dude is signing his own death warrant. Instead of suicide by cop perhaps he's going for suicide by cult.
