Re: Schwan to PSU
I am thinking in the long run this class will be better than tO$U. This kid has waaaayyy more potential than Spence. Meyer has made a career out of coat tailing Tebow. I will take this class and bob over Meyer and that overrated class all day.
Scout $

Schwan talks about his admiration for Urban Meyer and Noah Spence - a good read. Schwan says that it will be a thrill to someday tell his kids that he played alongside a future NFL player (Spence) in the Big 33 all star game.

As far as Meyer "coat tailing Tebow", let's not forget that he also had Percey Harvin and the Pouncey brothers and Jarvis Moss and Derrick Harvey and Joe Haden and Reggie Nelson (all first round selections), not to mention Jermaine Cunningham, Carlos Dunlop, Brandon Spikes, Marcus Gilbert, Major Wrights, Aaron Hernandez, Louis Murphy, Ahmad Black, etc. Yes Tebow was a great college quarterback, but Meyer assembled and developed an enormous amount of talent at Florida.

With Alex Smith a few years earlier and Cam Newton waiting in the wings (until he threw his UF career away).

It doesn't. Don't get upset at what the head-in-the-sand pedsters say. They are completely [censored]ing delusional. They know next to nothing when it comes to factual information since they like to live in their freaky little fantasyland called Joestown.
Sorry, I forgot to type that one in my sarcasm font. :wink2:

Perhaps someone who understands these things better can explain, but why would not being able to play in the B1G Championship or a bowl game next year (I.E. December 2012-January 2013) affect the players signing in February of 2013? And didn't the entire world just explode because we had a month when Urban could recruit without worrying about bowl prep?

It won't in the least. The only ones it would affect is the '12 class.

EDIT: Nevermind just saw your sarcastic comment

So, Einstein will take the 38th ranked class (Scout) over the #3 (and eventual #2 and very possibly #1) class?

I like this part of the quote you posted the best...

...You won't be recruiting against a coach-less team with a scandal next year...

He seems to have forgotten that Penn State won't be recruiting against a coach-less team with a scandal next year.

Instead they'll be recruiting against a future HOF coach that's won a couple of (mythical) national titles and who is considered to be one of the premiere recruiters in the country.

And they're throwing what against him again? A nameless tomato can with a journeyman's resume.

Brilliant!!

This post makes zero sense.

BTW, I think he ends up at MSU...so how does that fit in your academic model?

Hint: any B10 school is more than capable of providing a world class education. Believe it because it is true.
No offense but yes it does. I knew somebody from hineygate would be over here telling me that I'm wrong so I had research ready to back me up.

Taken from http://higheredwatch.newamerica.net/node/14753 - 2007

Under best and worst performers:

"Ohio State is dangerously close to being penalized by the NCAA for its low APR of 928 (penalties start at 925)."
Nice research. It's only 4 years out date. Too bad he didn't have the 12 seconds it took to look up OSU's most recent APR and the fact that it's 12 points higher than PSU.

Slugsrbad wrote: I agree with both sides of the "educational" argument, but disagree with the false assertion passed around here by many Penn State fans. You can get a quality education both at Ohio State and Penn State, so if a recruit truly cared about academics, he'd be fine at either. If I'm not mistaken, Ohio State has had its fair share of Academic All-Americans in the past five years. If a recruit cared more about academic accountability outside of the standard he holds for himself, then Penn State is probably a better bet in that regard. Our high graduation rates and APR scores show that as a team we get it done on the field and in the class room.
My contention is at OSU, the football player can say, I don't want the education, and the powers that be will make sure he stays eligible.

Yes. That is a link to an Andy Katzenmoyer article. That would be the same Andy Katzenmoyer who last put on a Buckeye jersey 13 years and 2 coaching staffs ago...or about the same time Jerry mysteriously retired...

Exactly, Meyer road the coat-tails of ALL those great players. Without those great players and coaching them up...Meyer wouldn't have won anything. He's definitely a coat-tailer alright.
