Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

I saw some mook yesterday say something along these lines in reply to the story that Paterno told his "bosses" to take a hike when they asked him to retire in 2004:

"That doesn't sound like Joe at all. I never met the guy, but this just doesn't seem like something Joe would do."

Yes. The crazy thing is that they just don't deny the major stuff like not having a compliance department, running off the vp who tried to have football players disciplined as students or that whole boy-raping business. They can't even bring themselves to admit to the most minor imperfections in the man. He NEVER lost his temper. He NEVER was paid a lot of money. He NEVER wanted the statue. Hell, they even find it inconceivable that an 80-something year old man in poor health might have possibly crapped himself. In their minds, they really have built him up as absolutely Christ-like perfection, humility, generosity etc.

First of all, stop calling him just Joe. They do this [Mark May] with all of their players. It's either a stupid combination of first letter/last name like ARob or DWill....or it's their first name. Mauti isn't Mauti...he's Matt. Pozlusnusnsusnsuki wasn't Pozslslusussuski or even Poz to most of them.....he was Paul. How the fuck do I know the first names of Penn State players? Because that's what their stupid fans call them.

I thought they called him "Joe" because it further pushes the EVIDENTS that everyone called him "Joe" - no one called him "Coach." I seem to remember that some of the EVIDENTS used against "Joe" in the Freeh report was some email referring to "Coach". The Freeh report assumes that's Coach Joe Paterno. And somehow that's a smoking gun. That's THE smoking gun. Without that, there's no EVIDENTS that "Joe" was involved. (Give us our 409 back!) "Coach" must have been "Jerry Sandusky."

It's a biggie. It's the e-mail that specifically says that Spanier and the others were on the verge of going to the police/children's services but decided to reconsider "after speaking with coach." Gee, I wonder what "coach" they would have spoken with? What coach could have had the influence to get them to change their minds about reporting child rape? The cult twisted themselves into pretzels in order to flush that one down the memory hole. I remember one thread speculating that "coach" must have been an assistant on the basketball staff. In the end, I think the hive-mind ultimately decided that Freeh simply faked the entire e-mail in order to tear down Joe.

I also love how this evil old man never put anything in writing and seemed to only physically meet with the other three one at a time so there was no corroborating witness to anything he may have said or ordered. I can just see him and Spanier going out onto some lawn to talk with their hands cupped over their mouths like Pesci's gang in Casino.

You do have to give the guy a little bit of credit - he was a master of covering his tracks. Like you said, nothing ever in writing, no email chains, no witnesses. Even the upper-level administrators seem to have gone out of their way to never use his name when discussing him (like maybe they were following his orders or something...).

He knew his house of cards was going to topple at some point and did everything he could to disassociate himself from anyone who he thought could make him look bad.

There's a Sopranos reference in there somewhere I'm sure...

Apparently JoePed was a meticulous note taker in every meeting he ever attended. That was from many sources. Mysteriously the note pad is gone and we have never heard a peep about it. You can bet that thing was destroyed long ago.

These cultists have come the conclusion that the only way for this to have gone down like it did is to just say it was "all one big miscommunication". They realized that in order for JoePed to be free of blame C/S/S also had to be blameless. It's an all eggs in the miscommunication basket strategy. If these guys skate (which I think is a foregone conclusion with Kane) the cult will rejoice.

I've seen threads on BWI that wish that Sandusky was found not guilty, or maybe found not guilty on more of the charges. They figure that if Sandusky's sentence isn't as severe as it is, that the NCAA might not have come down on Penn State so hard. They'd rather this monster be free, and they get their 409 back, than have him locked in prison for 2 life sentences (or whatever he got), and they don't get to worship Paterno, anymore.

Heck, someone on here (was it ORD?) had a screenshot or a copy/paste thing of a post where the guy doesn't believe Sandusky did anything wrong, because Sandusky "must be hung like a horse" and "there would be bleeding on some kid, somewhere" and no one can find the blood. Apparently, no blood found means that Joesus should keep his 409.

"One big miscommunication." I think they'll say or do anything (A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G) to get their 409.

At present, "PSU_Chicago" has the most recent post, at 9:09 AM. (I don't see post numbers.) That's 7 replies to the original post. The original post asks people to make compromises:

Suppose you could have Corbett defeated soundly, the BoT converted to a solid majority for us and the move on crowd shut down, but to get that you had to agree that PSU would still serve out the whole bevy of sanctions--would you make that trade?
How about this? The sanctions are wiped out tomorrow, Joe's wins restored, but the Corbett and the current BoT get 4 more years? Would you make that trade?
Louie Freeh jailed for 10 years for fraud, but Corbett and the BoT AND the sanctions continue in place?

Of the 7 replies, 6 don't seem to care much, as long as they get their 409 back. "Western PA" really didn't answer the question.

He wanted the victims (or whatever you call them) to be examined for anal scarring since Jerry had huge hands and a big nose and must therefore be sporting a cannon. He said that there was no way the kids wouldn't have been screaming from such a huge schlong, and the Ginger never said he heard screaming.

It was MaryLovesLions who had the infamous "no blood; no rape" post.

There's always been an undertone of "Free Sandusky!" with the cult because they know that it would be de-facto vindication for Joesus.

BEAT NEBRASKA!
