Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

New trustee and Sallie May CEO Al Lord... This guy is to the right of Lubrano on the goofy scale

At Sallie Mae, Lord says he learned to reconcile factions: Lord is paying for Spanier's legal defense against state charges blaming Spanier for not doing more to stop Sandusky, and backing Spanier's defamation complaint against Freeh --

Lord wants to serve on the trustees' legal committee. He's interested in Penn State's continuing reaction to NCAA sanctions. Ultimately, "we want an apology from the NCAA," he says.

NCAA apology: "We are sorry that you are a pedophile enabler".

Is that what he means?

BWI appears convinced that nothing is going to come of the Curley, Spanier, and Shultz trials...and that eventually all will be restored. I can't tell if that's just typical penn state stupidity or if that's really how things are trending since I stopped following the nonsense. If they get off.......

All will be restored... All what? Ok, I can see that they want their 409 restored - that's gotta be #1 on their list. But what else is on their list? The statue? Does the NCAA have any jurisdiction over statues? The naming of their stadium? The scholarships and post-season play - I can see them wanting those back, but they're already into their third year, aren't they? You can give back scholarships and bowl games for the 2 years already gone. Oh - and the $60 million (has that been paid?) is a big deal, too.

Does anyone think that the cultists would take the 409 and be happy with that much? They'd just give up the fight at that point and call it a win? I think they would. Which is kind of why I'd like to see Penn State get everything back EXCEPT the 409.

"Penn State, you get your scholarships back immediately. Here's the $60 million you let us borrow, and you can go to bowl games, again. In fact, you can go to 2 bowl games a year for a couple of years to make up for the 2 you missed. Same deal with the scholarships - you get extra scholarships. Is there anything else you'd like back?"
"We want the 409 back and Joe Paterno's legacy restored."
"No dice. Where's that consent decree that I'd like you to sign?"

The big three have bloo....er...soap on their hands and there will be hell to pay because someone other than the university(and JoPa,"he was just a tired, old man") has to take the blame.
Anyone but the beloved cult hero. That damn statue is coming out of "retirement". (Pedobear is warming up his suit)

All they ever talk about is the 409 and restoring Paterno's legacy. They've hung their hat on being the cleanest power program to ever exist....they want to be able to crow about that again once Ohio State fans start ragging on them for kicking the shit out of them time after time. Of course that's all bullshit. Their players were getting cars and cash and fixed grades just like everybody else since at least the 70s, but they're typical Penn State fans so their heads are up their own asses anyways.

Their moral high ground has been taken from them, and they want it back.

Maybe they can look for their moral high ground in here.

Let's wait for the week of the game, but I'd like to see some people's guesses for the number of "bad" calls by officials that Ohio State gets away with, en route to a 50-20 win. That's my favorite time to read Penn State's message boards.

Why are they making a reference to something that OSU fans made up?

Re: Coach Franklin - New Tradition - Blue Buses
He should get a real Nittany Lion and have it lead the team onto the field. And then put it in a cage near the visitor's bench.
That would certainly be a new tradition.

I would have a special monkey cage for the OSU game
Put a bunch of Nittany Monkeys in there and position them close to the Team and Band - it would be a game-long shower of poop and urine on da Bucks and their band dorks.

Yep. It wasn't just that JoePed was the best coach to ever walk a sideline (409!). It was all about him being the greatest human being to ever draw a fucking breath. He was a better human being than all the other coaches, and his program was cleaner and more honorable than all the other programs. The cultists then latched onto this in their simple, chimp-like way as to mean that they too were better, more honest people than fans/alums of all the other universities. Their whole identity is wrapped up in the myth of Joesus and the superiority complex that they took from their association with him, and that is why they can never reconcile themselves psychologically to the revelations of what really went on in that program.

And despite all this greatness, he was so amazingly humble. And of course, he was persecuted by those jealous of his greatness and ultimately driven to his death by them. The messianic narrative that they've constructed around that sick, evil old man is truly mind-boggling shit.

...All I know is that they are always confident that "the truth will come out" and that "the NCAA is going down!" and other nonsense like that.

1) They're not alone in wishing the NCAA out of existence. While there is much to criticize regarding the NCAA, the simple fact is that it's a necessity.
2) If there had been no NCAA to hand out penalties this case would have gone straight to the courts. I don't think it unreasonable to suggest that after the NCAA came in, forcing the school to conduct its own investigation and placing significant sanctions on the football program, the courts could feel free to believe that the school had already been punished, Joesus was dead, and therefore the courts could go easy on the institution and go after Larry, Curley, Moe and Ginger.

I saw some mook yesterday say something along these lines in reply to the story that Paterno told his "bosses" to take a hike when they asked him to retire in 2004:

"That doesn't sound like Joe at all. I never met the guy, but this just doesn't seem like something Joe would do."

First of all, stop calling him just Joe. They do this shit with all of their players. It's either a stupid combination of first letter/last name like ARob or DWill....or it's their first name. Mauti isn't Mauti...he's Matt. Pozlusnusnsusnsuki wasn't Pozslslusussuski or even Poz to most of them.....he was Paul. How the fuck do I know the first names of Penn State players? Because that's what their stupid fans call them.

But for fuck's sake...this moron actually thinks Joe Paterno was incapable of being a dick to people trying to force his retirement. Because he's just such a great guy through and through. They can't even fathom Joe Paterno handling any situation with anything other than pure class.
