One of the best performances I have ever seen in person was back in November of 2002 at Memorial Stadium. Penn State running-back Larry Johnson, rushed for 327 yards and 4 TD’s against Indiana.

If you are like me you might be wondering what happened to the Heisman trophy finalist and former NFL star. I know Johnson had my head turning then and apparantly he is still making heads turn now. This time, in the strip clubs.

TMZ has has reported that the ex-Penn State star is now a strip club DJ.

Every time I read something from that forum, I imagine the people writing it look like this.

The Pedsters have a serious case of Meyer and Ohio State envy this morning.....awww.....

Having lived among them like Jane Frickin' Goodall among the chimps, I'm not surprised. It's not like they're going to concern themselves with the FACTS! and EVIDENTS that Meyer has been head coach at four universities and has never had even an NCAA investigation much less a finding of any violations.

Would there be any disagreement if i make the statement that the purpose of the NCaA (or any other) punishment is to warn others not to do the same. The potential punishment is simply a deterrent. In this cas i would say prison is the deterrent that keeps pedofiles from doing it and administrators from hiding it. Not NcaA sanctions.

Except they weren't being punished for child rape. They were being punished for covering up the child rape to protect a legacy

Yes, huge disagreement. The NCAA should have disassociated itself from their program entirely.

Yes, they were being punished for child rape and covering it up. And their punishment is PRISON, again a MUCH bigger deterrent than some scholarship loses.

I'm not saying what the NCAA should or should not do. It's not my place, and the thought of it is overwhelming. It was disgusting.

All I'm saying is that the purpose of the punishment for a crime or breaking the rules is so that the punishment serves as a deterrent to those that might repeat the action. Do you disagree with that? The only thing that keeps me from speeding is a potential ticket. The only thing that keeps SOME people from burglary is potential jail time. The only thing that keeps SOME people that have very few morals from murder is potential prison time. The only thing that keeps even more screwed up people (pedophiles) from molesting children is prison time. The only thing that keeps the most screwed up people in the world from hiding pedophelia is again, jail time. THAT is why we have punishments for crimes, not so much to punish the offenders, but to keep people who might do it from doing it (and in some cases keep sickos/murderers off the street). That's why the NCAA (though arbitrarily) punishes players/teams who receive extras. To keep other players from accepting extras.

So with that, in my opinion, the deterrent that keeps people from committing crimes such as those that were committed at ped state is prison time. Compared to the prison time and consequential ruining of your life, anything the NCAA could do is a joke. Anything the NCAA does is not going to add as a deterrent from it happening again. All those that knew about it and hid the facts going to jail for several decades is the deterrent.

It's like in some countries the federal punishment for stealing is cutting off your hands. Would it really be any more of a deterrent if the local government came in later and added a swirly or purple nurple to the penalty? No, the local government just looks silly. I guess to that effect, kicking them out of the league could do something. Should they have done that? I REALLY don't know. Again, it's overwhelming to think about, and I'd just be happy to see the guilty parties spend the rest of their lives in prison.

yadda yadda yadda - $60 million bucks isn't a joke. Neither is losing the shared bowl revenue from the Big Ten. The NCAA has no criminal jurisdiction, but it sure as hell does have jurisdiction on policing it's members and that's exactly what they did (and they were wayyyyy to lenient for my tastes)....

You're confusing personal culpability with institutional culpability. No the NCAA's penalties don't necessarily carry the same weight as a criminal penalty, but to those that really want to be associated with the NCAA, they really want to have a clean slate. And before you say they didn't have any previous penalties, this is a school that had NO compliance office of any type and punishments were usually limited to being shipped off to a branch campus or being made to clean the erector-set stadium they have....

Quit taking your talking points from BWI already....
