Penn State in ACC instead of B1G? Former commish Gene Corrigan says it easily could've happened

Bo Schembechler's reaction upon hearing the results of the vote for Big 10 admission:

Gotta love comments sections:

Michigan was the biggest anti-PSU voice throughout the Big Ten's courtship of Penn State Football. They actually stated that PSU wasn't on-par with Big Ten schools in academics and research, so they commissioned a study. As it turned-out, PSU ranked ahead of every school in the Big Ten in research, and was narrowly #2 to Northwestern on academics and scholarship -- ahead of Michigan on both counts.

Mmmmmmm, academic smack. Note to the cult: academics mean precisely SHIT when kids are being defiled on your campus by a football coach.

More importantly as is the norm, the entire claim is a load of shit.

PSU did not rank 'ahead of every Big Ten school in research'. In 1990 they were essentially even with Illinois & behind TSUN, Minnesota & Wisconsin.

In undergraduated rankings they were roughly on par with Ohio State and behind Northwestern, TSUN, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Purdue & Chicago.

Time & time again when you look into the various claims by the PSU sycophants you find that they are flat out lies.

I've never seen Ohio State ranked behind those two.

But to get to your main point, the Penn State academic smack is ridiculous. Northwestern and U of C combined don't brag about their academics anywhere near the level crap that's coming out of slappy valley.

Ex-NFL player Larry Johnson sentenced in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (AP) ? Former NFL running back Larry Johnson has pleaded no contest in a domestic violence case involving an ex-girlfriend at a Las Vegas Strip resort.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the 33-year-old was ruled guilty today of misdemeanor domestic violence battery and assault. A felony charge was dropped as part of a plea deal.
Johnson was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay a $345 fine. He must also perform 48 hours of community service and attend six months of counseling.
Police arrested Johnson Oct. 5 at a Bellagio hotel room amid allegations that he beat and strangled his ex-girlfriend.

I have.

Heck right now Minnesota & Ohio State are essentially even in undergrad rankings, even after Ohio State has improved itself to a much greater degree over the past 20 years than Minnesota.

Actually, I disagree. When Ohio State officially abandoned open admissions in 1987 (though Jennings with the backing of Celeste and Vern Riffe was essentially unofficially defying his own board to do so for about five years prior), it was reported at the time that it left Minnesota as the only remaining Big Ten school maintaining the practice. Rankings from that period are also difficult since USNWR didn't give detailed rankings beyond the top 50. The "second tier" was just listed alphabetically with each school's corresponding data.

I'm not sure what the political dynamics in Minnesota were that held them back , but figure that--as with Ohio State--it was an unnatural situation that once removed has allowed them to make some pretty big jumps. I would consider the two schools very similar today.

what the shit? that guy is saying they're going to get to go to a bowl earlier, their scholarship restrictions can start earlier (meaning end earlier), and they get 10 scholarships back per year..............and they get responses like this:
Well, if that's the case, they can shove it. That would just make the bad guys look good.
what in the ever living fuck is wrong with these people?
