First time I have heard Jay Paterno speak at length. IMO he comes across like a dope. Although, his ability to parse words and circumnavigate the facts to come to self serving conclusions is superb.Jake;2304107; said:Listened to Jay Paterno on Mike & Mike this morning while driving to work. Just as I was about to throw up Golic started calling bull[Mark May] on the crap he was spewing.
"But we don't REALLY know what Jerry was doing in the shower."
"We don't REALLY know what McCreary said to Joe."
"We don't REALLY know..."
Yeah, how dare Golic ask questions that all the non-cult listeners were thinking.Zurp;2304120; said:I got in OK - it's full of "We hate Mike and Mike" and "Mike Golic is a dummy" threads. It's pretty funny.

I am certainly not going to come on here and say that I think it is wrong to punish kids in the Ohio State program for things that didn't involve them and then turn around and say that is exactly what should happen at Penn State. The guilty parties at PSU have been punished. As I see it, the B1G has the best shot at changing this SEC dominance once and for all. But not with a weak PSU.
gost8;2304199; said:I understand why the current players and coaches have to be punished. But everyone that was part of the cover-up is no longer on the campus. The school itself being slammed monetarily thru fines and no bowl revenue. I was just saying that I hope that the current staff can keep the team relevant.
My post wasn't very well written I guess. What I am trying to say is that I hope that what the former staff did... doesn't effect the current teams ability to stay relevant, and further, doesn't adversely effect the level of players being recruited into the program. (I know that it will at some level.) If it does... it just adds to the argument that tOSU plays in a substandard conference and therefore has a much easier road to a national championship than teams in the SEC.buckeyesin07;2304202; said:As ORD said--the players can transfer out of the program. If they choose not to and would rather play for a program that can't go to a bowl game, well, that's their decision. For that reason, your statement that the current players "have" to be punished simply isn't true.
But to your main concern, I really think the argument that a down PSU team for the next 5 or so years could impact OSU in a negative, meaningful way is very attenuated.

When I said "have" to be punished I was referring to most teams that find themselves in this predicament and have no option to leave.
