However, to assume Paterno knew nothing in 1998 requires a very, very thin look at the reasonable facts that we have at this time. To believe the Freeh report is "grossly inaccurate" on the key question, as the "Critique" concludes, at least you have to believe in a series of improbable assumptions. Not just one, but repeated improbable assumptions.
Some Paterno loyalists, and some Penn State fans bitter at the NCAA sanctions and who believe it is the Nittany Lions' birthright to go 10-2, will no doubt do just that. It's their choice. This report will feed off that sentiment.
In the end, though, the "Critique" did little to nothing to suggest Paterno didn't know in 1998. The report brought to light no new facts. So, barring further evidence being uncovered during the criminal cases expected later this year, the Freeh conclusion remains the far most likely scenario.

Hope Wetzel knows what he's tangling with - after all they are still searching for ORD!!!

The Paterno family is an accurate reflection of Zombie Joe--they'd rather spend money attempting to salvage his reputation as opposed to donating it to victims of child abuse or some other organization designed at stopping the horrible crimes of the type that occurred for years at PSU while Zombie Joe was in charge of the football program.

What do you expect? His name is all they have. Without that, they're a bunch of rubes from some sparrow-fart town in bumfuck, PA.

The best they can come up with is, ?Well, Joe is the only one who admitted he should have done more.? Then, I say, yep, that's right, he should've. A lot more.

The worst part? He never even said he "should" have done more. Just that he "wished" he had done more.

Having only skimmed through the report at this point, it doesn't seem like there's anything new that it brings to light? Anyone that's read the whole thing see some new info in it?

How much money did they piss away to have someone manipulate evidence we've already seen and nicely type the whole thing up?

Listened to Jay Paterno on Mike & Mike this morning while driving to work. Just as I was about to throw up Golic started calling bullshit on the crap he was spewing.

"But we don't REALLY know what Jerry was doing in the shower."

"We don't REALLY know what McCreary said to Joe."

"We don't REALLY know..."
