Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

And of course the inevitable BWI response. It still really does stun me that they can continue with their holier-than-though bullshit. God, I hate that fanbase above all others.

It's a blatant attempt at getting around their scholarship reductions, yet they're worried that other programs might take their noble idea and use it to cheat.

Of course the huge irony is PSU fans a year ago were convinced Meyer was going to take over from Paterno. Now all of the sudden OSU and Meyer is dirty across the board.

At its core, it's an offer of compensation (albeit deferred) to football players that is not available to students at large or even other athletes. While they can say that they won't be disbursing the money until after a player has used up his eligibility (and I think in their mind they think this makes it out of reach of the ncaa), the fact that there is an established fund/program set up to do this is a promise of compensation to walk-on recruits.

The site just popped up today, so give the Penn State admin and ncaa a little time, but I have to think if they go through with this, it's a major violation while on probation. Death Penalty.

I like how they make an exception to the graduation requirement for players going into the NFL draft. How many true walk ons make the draft? It's just so blatant that they're setting up a slush fund to pay high end talent that "walks on."

From the looks of the law firm's website, they seem like some real creepy low rent attorneys. I'm sure that they will be taking a nice little cut for "administering" this non-profit corp and managing the money.

My guess is that the Penn State legal counsel will contact them and tell them to shut this down. If they persist, the ncaa will get involved. According to the brain trust over at BWI, the two lawyers are boosters and are apparently known to people within the program who are not attempting to dissuade them from going through with this. Just for once, I hope BWI is correct because that would bring down the fucking sheitzenstorm.

Apparently, it is a legit attempt to get around the ncaa sanctions. The domaine is registered to a small criminal defense/ambulance chasing law firm in State College.

Get a load of the "LEADERSHIP" page on the website. No cult here.

Somebody needs to go to the "share your memories" section and recount the time joepa flung his poop at them when they were milling about his lawn...
