Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

No. You might not need to be a great team to beat Navy, but you sure as hell better be fundamentally sound on the defensive side at least. I just don't see PSU being capable of, or talented enough to cover the option. If this was their first game of the year and they were getting ready for Navy during 2 a days...maybe. Navy goes over 400 yards on the ground and wins.

If PSU did accidently delete all E-mails from 2004 and earlier.... Where is the documentation that it happened? Surely, there has to be a note in some sort of student or professional journal that such an epic screw-up occurred. If ANY organization had that happen, there'd be a paper trail. Where is it?

I'm starting to feel like it wasn't just a group of leaders ignoring the Sandusky issue, but that they covered-up their tracks to ensure that if it ever came back to bite them, there'd be little proof.

Tony would approve....oh wait, Pedterno was Italian too...hmmmmm

I think they will have a hard time getting 5-6 wins.
OU won't be easy. Call it a win.
Virginia this is away but Virginia isn't very good. Win.
Navy is always tough but can't throw the ball that helps PSU. Win.
Temple at Philly. Very tough game they barely won last year. Loss
Illinois away. Loss
Northwestern. Loss
Iowa. away Loss
OSU Loss
Purdue away this looks like a good Purdue team. Loss
Nebraska away Loss
Indiana win
Wisconsin Loss
I'm seeing a 4-8 team.

Let's see here (damned hippies always fucking this shit up :shake: )

OU has the offense to win the game, but it's on their defense. Close win for PED State

Virginia is the 3rd or 4th best ACC team this year. Loss.

To beat Navy, you have to have discipline and focus on the field AND two weeks to prepare for them. This Navy team was very young last year and has returned basically everyone of note. Loss.

Temple should have won last year. They will win this year. It's in Philly, it may not be a pro-PedState crowd. Close Loss.

Illinois away. Loss

NW - Close loss (this wouldn't surprise me if they win this one either)

Iowa owns them. Loss

Ohio State - Loss

Purdue - Loss

Nebraska - Loss

Indiana - Close win - if Indiana's offense is competent I think this could easily be a loss and perhaps by a large margin too.

Wisconsin - by this point the depth issues on the defense will seriously show. Loss by quite a large margin

I have them going 3-9 and I think I'm being fair. They could win as many as 5 if they get every break, but they could conceivably lose every game too if they don't.

In a vacuum, you're probably right... depends on early in the season, I think you're close to the catastrphe scenario... but, I think if they can beat UVA, they can eek out 5 to 6 maybe? But, if Solich smells blood and pops them... whooo... could be 2-10 or 1-11, and they can win 1 if they have nay pride... but, this could be bad.

It's on O'Brien.... and, hey, say what you like about the guy, but he's about the only one there that can say he didn't turn a blind eye to all this shit. I'm not rooting for his ass, and he'd be out of his element without the sanctions but, he's not a criminal, and got a tough gig lined up here. someone said before if the won 7 he should be coach of the year... I'd vote for him. And if he wants to win 7, he better do it this year.

It's hard to work up a hate for buttchin. He's been dealt an absolute [Mark May] sandwich and has pretty much kept his head down and gone about his business. He hasn't gone around pledging fealty to the memory of Dear Leader and has already torn up some of their traditions. He's stayed completely out of the brewing civil war in Slapping Valley. About the only negative I've seen was his pressuring some of next year's class to publicly declare their intentions and a little circle the wagons smack right after the sacntions were announced, and I'm not going to hold that too deeply against him given the load of guano that the ncaa dropped on him.

Down the road, he may prove to be an a-hole, but I haven't seen it yet. He's definitely no Flintstone or Weis--the kind of guy who just begged for your hatred from the moment they stepped up to the podium.

I'm perfectly prepared to cross that bridge when I come to it. :wink2:

For the time being, he's just a guy in over his head. And, say what you want but his resume is not what you'd expect the HC of Ped State to look like but, on the other hand its not like he wouldn't get a couple hundred K a year type job (minimum) even if the patriots had let him go

If they keep him for 3 years and he wins 12 games, I won't think less of him, douchebaggery aside.

I'm plenty excited for that game against OU. I really think Penn State has a very good chance of being upset. What are the odds on the game? I looked them up, but I don't understand any of that stuff. -6 5?

that means for Penn State to cover the bet (i.e. you win if you bet on Penn State), they need to win by 7 points or more.

Same goes with OU - if you think they will be within a 7 point margin (or winning outright), you bet on them and hope they keep it to 6 points or less.

Faculty cult?

Penn State's Faculty Senate may ask the NCAA and the Big Ten to reconsider sanctions levied as a result of the Jerry Sandusky scandal and the Freeh Report.
According to StateCollege.com, the Faculty Senate has posted a six-page document on its website outlining questions and discussion including communication with the NCAA and the Big Ten to address alleged lapses within the football program and other Penn State programs and alleged lapses in oversight or institutional control at Penn State.
http://tracking.si.com/2012/08/23/penn-state-ncaa-big-ten-freeh-report-jerry-sandusky/?sct=obnetwork

The key word in this article is "may." This is merely a proposal by one faculty member, together with quotes in the article from another. The full Faculty Senate meets on Tuesday to consider this proposal. So, stay tuned to see whether Ped State's faculty is in or out of the cult.....

Let's give ole' Sandie a hand here guys...I've (nor the majority of the U.S.) never been this anxious to watch Ped State football in my entire life. I mean, SOMEONE had to take one for the team and make things exciting in (not so) Happy Valley again!!11!!!!1 MARTYR!!!!

All joking aside, I'd cut his throat if I shared a cell with him, and do so gladly. Let's be honest though, because of Dear Leader and J-Dusk, I cannot wait to watch this collapse take place.

About Virginia:

Remember, these guys beat Indiana @ Indiana last year. So if you hold out any hope that Indiana may beat PSU, VA may even be the better team. Virginia is projected to be a 7-win team, and they return 11 starters (7 on offense, 4 on defense). PSU is going to have a tough time with them, especially if they get demoralized by Ohio.

And that number is bound to shrink by September 1st, right?
