Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

And that number is bound to shrink by September 1st, right?

It depends on who is betting on what. If there is a lot of movement towards OU, the -6.5 may shrink. If say McMoxie were to dislocate his neck between now and gameday, the line could be pulled and/or drastically reset.

remember it's about the books making money, they want to set the line at a place where people will put money on a potential loser.

Faculty cult?

http://tracking.si.com/2012/08/23/penn-state-ncaa-big-ten-freeh-report-jerry-sandusky/?sct=obnetwork

The key word in this article is "may." This is merely a proposal by one faculty member, together with quotes in the article from another. The full Faculty Senate meets on Tuesday to consider this proposal. So, stay tuned to see whether Ped State's faculty is in or out of the cult.....

What's really funny is how stupid the BWI people are. For a group that has supposedly poured over every line of the Freeh Report, they're willing to jump on this without actually understanding its 6 pages as the greatest thing ever. If, however, you actually read the document, the faculty supports Erickson, accepts the Freeh report (but just makes a disclaimer that there has been no "formal" acceptance of its findings as factual) and accepts the findings that JoePed was involved in a cover up (just hedges their bets a little bit with the word alleged). Their whole point is just that they don't think that the coverup was related to football, broke ncaa rules and warranted ncaa sanctions.

That being said, by publicly fighting to have the football sanctions removed, they still have made complete fools of themselves.

I think they will have a hard time getting 5-6 wins.
OU won't be easy. Call it a win.
Virginia this is away but Virginia isn't very good. Win.
Navy is always tough but can't throw the ball that helps PSU. Win.
Temple at Philly. Very tough game they barely won last year. Loss
Illinois away. Loss
Northwestern. Loss
Iowa. away Loss
OSU Loss
Purdue away this looks like a good Purdue team. Loss
Nebraska away Loss
Indiana win
Wisconsin Loss
I'm seeing a 4-8 team.

If this plays out like you have it, I don't think the team will be able to win against Indiana. They will be riding a SEVEN game losing streak that started with Temple. I don't think State Penn would have any fight in them the time Indiana rolls into town. They might not have any fans in the stadium either. Especially when OSU and Nebraska hang half a hundred on them. After the Ohio State and Nebraska games, they might not have a QB.

Emmert: "Ha! We screwed that group of fans for no reason!! I LOVE having all this power!!!111!!!"
ESPN: "This just in, Penn State is the nation's most popular football team."
Emmert: "What?!? Oh crap! We've been messing with the wrong people! I better lift all sanctions, immediately. In fact, I resign, and let Joe Paterno (may he rest in peace) be the new and forever president of the NCAA. All hail the new leader.."

Can you blame Rodney?

STATE COLLEGE, PA. (AP)
NCAA sanctions and the search for a new university president are among topics to be discussed when Penn State trustees meet this weekend as part of an on-campus retreat.

Rodney Erickson took over as president after Graham Spanier lost his job days after Sandusky was charged. Erickson has said he's not coming back after his contract expires in 2014.

Re: Analysis: Coach is NOT believed to be Paterno - evidence
Wow. FWIW, put me in the camp that thinks the "coach = Jerry" theory is fanciful.

Besides, as long as Joe admitted that Mac told him something sexual had occurred (even if, for the sake of argument, leaving out the "sexual sounds" info - and the fact Mac was shaking and upset in talking about it), none of that has a whole lot to do with the premise Joe & Co. knew of some inappropriate, possibly sexual act with a young boy in the shower on your campus in 2001...and dropped the ball. For a defense of how it was handled to have any hope of working, you have to find a way to make Joe not understand the nature of the story relayed to him....or to not have passed the information as relayed to him up the food chain accurately.

Unless you do that, none of the rest of it makes much difference. Because the universal opinion of the world outside your fan base, is that once allegations of sexual molestation of a boy by an already suspect Sandusky was reported, more had to be done than was done. And unless Joe was lying or mistaken when he testified he was told that it involved "something sexual", many people feel like the level of response (or lack thereof) by PSU's leadership - to that specific incident - is a huge problem, even ignoring 1998.

I can see that some assumptions were made in the Freh report that were arguably subject to different interpretation. That Mac thought....and Joe was told...something "sexual" had occurred is not one of those things. To me anyway.
