Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

IF Indiana's offense is anywhere near competent and if Minny improves under Jerry Kill, I think Ped State will have a dogfight on their hands THIS year in both of those games.

All away games for them will be an adventure. Temple nearly beat them last year.
How are they going to score?
And their special teams are a wreck.
I think they averaged 19 points a game last year with Redd and decent WRs.
And the secondary is completely new and has no depth.

Yes, but Biff O'Baggins, leader of men, coached Tom Brady. I'm pretty sure he can handle the college game even with the particular hardships you're talking about. I mean... He's friggin Bart O'Bannigan... It'll be easy for him. I mean, again... he friggin coached TOM BRADY!

FACT!

Don't you know that by being an OC for one season (after which he was about to be fired) in the NFL means that Barney O'Rubble knows how to manage small rosters better than anyone in college football.

Unless that collection of 2* recruits and walk-ons in their defensive backfield miraculously steps up, ped aggy doesn't win more than 4 games with a couple of strong passing teams running up pinball scores on them.

Summary from yesterday:

Event: Dr. Graham Spanier held a press conference where his lawyer was unable to answer the most basic questions about Dr. Graham Spanier's inaction for the last 14 years.

BWI interpretation: Dr. Graham Spanier is an incredibly bright guy and willing to speak the truth. He was once an evil bastard for trying to force Joe out but now he's awesome because he's the only one with balls to fight the power... long live Braveheart (Dr. Graham Spanier).

Event: According to Dr. Graham Spanier's legal team the IT department at PSU "lost" an entire archive of pre-2004 email because of a botched upgrade. The IT department apparently did not take a snapshot of the existing email in the event that they would need to back out the upgrade. No backup tapes exist for the archived email. It all disappeared just like Ray Gricar did. When the 2004 upgrade was complete the IT department told the users "hey all your previous email is gone... We didn't have a plan B so you'll just have to deal with losing all your data... not just the funny emails your friends sent you but all the stuff you need to do your job is gone FOREVER... sucks to be you..."

BWI interpretation: Email gone... free Jerry, put the statue back, restore the wins, file legal action against NCAA, jail Emmert, hire Jay, rename the stadium to Paterno Field, take the names off the damn jerseys!

Event: Dr. Graham Spanier said he was told it was "horseplay" and saw no reason to do anything. Dr. Graham Spanier said it was just this "Jerry" fellow being "Jerry" all the time not really knowing who the heck this "Jerry" guy was?

BWI interpretation: Never trust a ginger. Have Gereral McCombie track down Mike McQueary (AKA McQuaid) and waterboard him until he admits that he used the word "horseplay". If waterboarding doesn't work threaten a Ray Gricar type ending

Event: Dr. Graham Spanier said he he did even really know Jerry Sandusky even though they were pictured together multiple times from 1997-2011, on the same charitable foundations boards, shared the presidents box at Beaver Stadium (soon to be rename Paterno Field) through the years

BWI interpretation: Jerry was too busy with his "charity" by the time Dr. Graham Spanier came to power and it's very likely they two never met nor Dr. Graham Spanier even knew this "Jerry" guy was

Event: Dr. Graham Spanier's legal team questioned the authority of the president and BOT to accept the NCAA conditions.

BWI interpretation: For the love of God please fire every one of these spineless idiots. The 31 incompetent BOT member should be replaced with the following: Arabass4PSU, Lebrono, Ret. General McCombie, Kevin Slaten, 9fold, Obliviax, Southeastern PA Buck Hunter, Mack Daddy (all iterations), pjone, NYNY, Howie'81, Mixolydian, lionlurker, Whipples Dam, 91Joe95, ChiTownLion, WestSideLion, psu00, LundyPSU, fairgambit, SgtCarter, Nittany Ned2, LealandLoyal, Nashville Lion, PaRanger, Rip_E_2_Joe_PA, TJ, thecoolestfish, Mister Magoo and of course....... wait for it...............Tom McAndrew. Franco will share chairman responsibility with Shane Conlin. Adam T is persona non-Grata for his acceptance of the Freeh report. His spinal cord injury has rendered him spineless to fight the BOT

something to consider:

the freeh report was not exhaustive because it was not permitted to be so. remember, there are more important investigations that preclude freeh from releasing damning revelations. furthermore, don't think that the ncaa punished psu based on the freeh report alone.

^^^^ This is what I am waiting to see. Do you have any indication when this other material will be released and when other investigations will be finished?

So.... A new untested HC

with a roster that is a shell of what it was a year ago is going to be better then they have been in years.

What does that say about the old staff?? Yea that staff that the cult is praying to.... I don't get it, guess I pass the humanity test.

I just watched the BTN preview of PSU. They are returning six starters. SIX.
Total. On both sides of the ball. That means they are only returning five starters who are not Matt McGloin.

BOB was talking about how they were not running too many groups because of limited personnel. That they were taking it easy in two a days because they need them healthy. This is not how you prepare for a season in the B1G.

The first game may indeed be a statement.

I was reading my CFB preview at home this morning, and I forget what team it was, it was a lower team in a Big 6 conference, but they needed to use a backup kicker and a 5th string QB at safety...during their spring game...just to have enough bodies for 2 teams. Penn State will have to do that at pretty much every position if you include walk-ons. I will say this, if BOB goes 6-6 or 7-5, he should be National Coach of the Year, because this is a 2-10 team this year...if that. I don't think Temple and Ohio will be games they can bank on winning.

OK, if I'm Bob Double Bubble Chin, I start today by ending each practice with 20 minutes of work on Ohio State. I put up a countdown to Oct 27 in the locker room, I have a rug made with the score from two years ago on it and set it by the exit from the dressing room to the practice fields. I get a copy of the 1969 Ohio State - Michigan game, complete with all the media attention that Buckeye team and players were garnering. I make my whole season turn on one big game and I hope that the Buckeyes come in undefeated and fat-headed. One big ass upset becomes the season goal. It could work.
they do that every year.
