Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

something to consider:

the freeh report was not exhaustive because it was not permitted to be so. remember, there are more important investigations that preclude freeh from releasing damning revelations. furthermore, don't think that the ncaa punished psu based on the freeh report alone.

In all likelihood the FBI report(legal) will be similar to the Freeh Report(non-legal) because
Freeh was an FBI guy so logically he would use FBI methods. The difference could be how deep the FBI may go. :tongue2: The FBI report could be very, very damaging. But this is just speculation until the FBI is done.
And what will be the Slappy Valley reaction to a very damning, Freeh like FBI(fully legal) report? Resignation? Realization? Despair?
No. More likely.......just more denial. Or blame. Because that's easier.

I think the days of PSU fans having to sweat MAC teams are over even with our sanctions. PSU has much better talent than Ohio except perhaps at QB. I believe the new staff will get the most out of our talent and the first game will be a statement. I could be wrong but I already bet $200 on PSU giving 6.5. I know it's not much but I think it's easy beer money.

I just watched the BTN preview of PSU. They are returning six starters. SIX.
Total. On both sides of the ball. That means they are only returning five starters who are not Matt McGloin.

BOB was talking about how they were not running too many groups because of limited personnel. That they were taking it easy in two a days because they need them healthy. This is not how you prepare for a season in the B1G.

The first game may indeed be a statement.

Just for shits and giggles I went to Statsen and added up wins for both schools -- ignoring the games voided-- beginning with 98 and going thru 11:

OSU 137 wins
PSU 112

A 25 game differential, or roughly a 2 game per season difference.

I would add that this is also a time of success never before matched by OSU, and a time when Paterno had some of his worst teams in his tenure, some of which was caused by the great teams OSU fielded during that period of time.

So then I decided to double down on the giggles and added up Michigan and Wisconsin for the same time frame:

Michigan 119
Wisconsin 125

Here's my 2-martini prediction on ped aggy's record going forward:

2012: 4-8 (wins over Temple, Purdue, IU and either Fredo or a surprise in the Big Ten)
2013: 3-9 (wins over EMU, Kent State and either IU or Minny. 30-50 point plunger rapes at the hands of Ohio State, Wiscy, Michigan and Corn)

I'm going to call my shot right here for 2013. After another round of transfers this Winter and Akron level recruits coming in, I'm going to say that the combined losing margin to Ohio State, Wiscy, Michigan and the Corn will be 175+ points. Traveling to the Columbus and Madison, the overall loss to the psychological health of those who travel for the game will be incalculable.

2014: 2-10 (ooc they take two out of three from Temple, Akron and UMass; in conference they whiff losing at home to both IU and Minny. Elsewhere in the Big Ten, the plunger rapings continue)
2015: 1-11 (being generous only because their ooc is Rutgers, Buffalo and Temple, and they take one there. They go to IU though and Illinois replaces Minny. Mark it ZERO, Dude for the second straight year in the Big Ten.)
2016: 2-10 (win either Kent State or Temple ooc and get revenge against IU at home, breaking their 24 game conference losing streak.)

By the end of this, their season defining rival will be IU.

Five year record: 12-48 overall; 4-36 in the Big Ten.

Now, I'm not the most religious man, but it seems as though the cultists have bit-by-bit pretty much constructed a whole messiah-Jesus narrative around JoePed.

You have the outsider preaching his gospels--the Grand Experiment and Success with Honor--to a non-believing, often hostile world. Hated and mocked by those who won't accept his purity.

He is utterly selfless to all around him. Caring more for the anonymous secretary or normal student than for himself. You see that in the constant refrain of, "anyone who knows the slightest bit about Joe knows that he could never let a child be harmed no matter the cost to himself and his program." They have a pinned thread for people to tell their "Joe stories" of his simple humility and love for all around him.

At the end, he is betrayed by those closest to him: Schultz, Curley, Spanier and the Board of Trustees

The frenzied mob follows. BWI often uses the term "media fueled blood lust."

And finally being unjustly hounded to an early grave.

Now you have the Powerful in politics, higher education and media all trying to destroy his legacy...........

but.........the TRUTH and the FACTS will be stronger than anything. The TRUTH will come to those who seek it.

So, I guess that would make Mike McQueary Judas and Mark Emmert Pontius Pilate?

Man...that's just crazy to think about. Six returning starters, completely destroyed at RB and WR with McGloin leading the offense and the scholarship reductions haven't even kicked in yet, have they? When this all started, I figured they would be OK for a few years...but they won't be, at all. Just look at the recruits there pulling in now. Pathetic. And once they get to week two or three of conference play injuries will add up...right now that means playing some bottom of the barrel scholarship underclassmen, in a few years that means nothing but walkons. By the time they hit the end of their schedule they might not even be able to field a team.

They're a wreck. If they get to 7 wins, Bell, Biv O'Blanton deserves Coach of the Year, but only if Kirk Ferentz doesn't beat him to it.

Yeah, but that's not going to happen. By the end of the season they will blame him, not the sanctions, but BOB for being unable to keep recruits. After all, it's Penn State! Who wouldn't want to go there?! There will be another riot in Happy Valley, the question is how bad does the fan base have to get before the school tried their hands up in the air and hires another coach? I chod see then winning only two games this year. Once the wheels fall off after they are completely blown out in an upset, they will go on a horrid losing streak

I wish, in hindsight........

Hey, Graham, you had 10 years to learn more and did fuckall to learn it. It was in your power to follow up and you didn't. That is a you problem.

Would it really surprise you if the Happy Valley IT team was as completely incompetent as every other facet of the school?

You just know that the system admin was Franco Harris or some other former PSU player who majored in lawn maintenance.

Remember that USNWR rankings are based on word of mouth. Joe Pa told someone they had a pretty good adding machine school and it snowballed from there...

OK, if I'm Bob Double Bubble Chin, I start today by ending each practice with 20 minutes of work on Ohio State. I put up a countdown to Oct 27 in the locker room, I have a rug made with the score from two years ago on it and set it by the exit from the dressing room to the practice fields. I get a copy of the 1969 Ohio State - Michigan game, complete with all the media attention that Buckeye team and players were garnering. I make my whole season turn on one big game and I hope that the Buckeyes come in undefeated and fat-headed. One big ass upset becomes the season goal. It could work.
