Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

This guy came out of nowhere, but he makes Mack Daddy and Bushwood appear downright logical.

It will crack me up when Kiffin has to send Redd back.Reply And Kelly and Brown, and all of them...

This team will die for the coaches and that is the ATTITUDE that permeates, promotes, fosters, and creates winners.
The O?Brien gyre is going to be wide and devastating; a new era has begun and it is going to be exciting to see young, energetic, smart coaches in action; The sleeping giant is going to wake up.

Throughout this entire scandal, the Paterno family, former players and several PSU loyalists have denied the fact that joe knew anything, stating simply that Sandusky was a monster who fooled them all. The thought that perhaps dear old Joe could've also been a monster who fooled a lot of people is completely out of the realm of possibility for them.

I agree with this point.

Penn State players and fans have trouble accepting that Paterno was merely a football coach, not some infallible prophet. He controlled all matters with respect to Penn State football. It's the exact reason the NCAA doesn't want football coaches having control of the Athletic Department / University.

I was actually thinking about what other schools may come close to matching Penn State when it comes to the factors that lead to shit like this and Alabama (the whole state) was at the top of the list.

The small town ignorance/lack of accountability combined with over the top fanaticism is at least as bad in Bama as it is around Happy Valley.

My wife says I'm obsessed with Ped State right now. Well, OK.
My personal observation of a couple of pedophiles colors my disgust and anger for enabling by family members(not mine) and organizations. I'm still pissed about the smug way they treated Coach Tressel and us last year and how they treated our band in years past.
So for this year, it's pay back time! And at least for this year, I'm going to obsessively want them to suffer.

On another note. I like their new coach and I hope they extend his contract. He deserves more job security

And the Cult goes on. This is like something right out of Scientology or the Moonies. Unless you were one of the Sandusky kids, why would you need to attend a healing session, and even then it's safe to assume that the ped aggy campus is the last place you would want to do it.

Mass "healing sessions" to be offered on the 15th and 16th.

The newspaper reports the "Healing and Moving Forward" sessions will be held Aug. 15 and 16 for the University Park campus.

What this stupid action reinforces is the notion that they are somehow victims and need to be healed. What they need is a good old fashioned Stalinist self-criticism session. Where every member of the ped aggy community goes in front of the group and details the manner in which he personally failed and contributed to the cult and to the unchecked power of Joe Paterno.

overall fanaticism, yes.
but it is a different fanaticism.

right now, Bama fans are worshiping at the altar of Saban.
but that would change quickly he ever had anything remotely resembling what JoePed did 2000-2004.

5 straight seasons with 4 or more losses?
well actually, he'd never get to 5 seasons.
he would be run out of town by a fully armed lynch mob.

that is the big difference.
when JoePed was found to be less than they thought, the cultists rallied together to defend him.

if Saban takes a turn for the worst, Bama fans will rally together to get rid of him.

I don't know about that. I saw a movie on ESPN with Jake Taylor (you know, the old Indians catcher and later on, interim manager) in it that made Bryant look like kind of a jerk. They still seem to love him alright.
