Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

In relation to some sports website's poll questions: Will Penn State ever be elite again?

It could really be argued that Penn State was never elite once it joined the Big Ten.

Never. They never were. A couple good seasons sprinkled over 60 years does not make a team elite. Did they have "mystique" Yes, they did, but as we all know now it was a complete fabrication by the head coach.

This is not over. Now that the NCAA will be parked on campus, we will most likely see tons of cockroaches being flushed out.

Penn State and their minions better get a grip and focus on the academic side of things for awhile, at least while they are still a university (which may not be the case once everything is said and done)

RE: the idea of kicking Penn State out of the conference:

Mason: Everything was on the table, but there was no advocacy for booting them.

RE: outgoing transfers to other B1G schools:

Delany: Our first inclincation is that these are students first and athletes second, and they should be granted as much freedom as we can allow (based on the guidelines from the NCAA)

Yes. Emmert said that PSU cannot cancel any sports because of the fine, but how can you prove that? Any accountant who is a bit unethical could make it appear like there were other financial reasons for cutting a program.

And if that happens with the knowledge and consent of Ped State that will be the end of them as an NCAA affiliated school AND likely within the AAU and CIC if that wasn't already on the table.

That type of unethical behavior would finish them completely.

Well, once down the path of unethical behavior, it is not hard to find it again.

My dad DIED; my best friend DIED; my mom DIED; now, Penn State is DEAD.....ReplyA "football culture"?!? Unbelievable!

Now, more than ever, I wish Joe Paterno would've brought in countless JUCO's and borderline academic athletes just ot WIN and WIN big. This University has shown me EXACTLY where they stand on issues.

Saying we alums were FOOTBALL WORSHIPPERS is a insult to the nth degree. Doesn't anyone in State College visit the South? Ever attended a Meeechigan game at the (ahem) "Big House"?

Everything Penn State has ever chosen to stand for has been removed. A fine academic instution, yes. Overpriced? Absolutley! Reputation? Who wants to tell people they attend or graduate Penn State?

Penn State will survive like any business entity. But a University, above all, should stand for DUE PROCESS.

I will forever remember the day Penn State DIED: July 23, 2012. I'm glad my father didnt see this. Im glad Joe Paterno didnt have to witness this either.
