Donors must feel guilty and are increasing the pool of money that will be used for the payout to the victims.

Sorry, can't keep a straight face while typing that. :slappy:

let me take it a step further.. its probably all the people who will be getting sued donating so the victims can't get any money from them, and claim to be broke..

Does it seem like in the past month (maybe longer) every single sports columnist nationally has written a story saying the NCAA should not get involved?

It's almost like everyone has "writers block" and needs a simple topic.

People are rightly divided about how the NCAA should be involved. It may turn out to be a mute point if the leaks of the Freeh report are true. Athletes getting treated differently then students sure sounds like a violation of NCAA rules. Can it reasonably be argued that the the football program was being protected by hiding the Sandusky abuse for a decade?
I think that's possible. I think they get a LOIC charge.

I'm really beginning to wonder whether JoePed didn't commit suicide. If he had a clear mental grasp on what was coming down, it wouldn't be that out of the question. Remember, he transferred the house to his wife's name for $1, and then arranged to seal his will. I wonder whether he spent a couple of weeks, trying to insulate his assets from the inevitable lawsuits and then swallowed a jar of pills.

Cowards way out, so it would definitely fit his profile.

Pennlive.com is worth a look for those amused by the still present Paterno defenders. Even when the Freeh report comes out they will refuse to acknowledge his involvement to protect the football empire he built.

Looks like State Penn is circling the fiscal wagons...

E!SPN (don't click me)

Break down the numbers, and it's pretty fucking bush league.

What Kirsch described as a "bonanza year" for fundraising was due in large part to an $88 million gift by Terry Pegula, and founder and former president of an energy company involved in Pennsylvania's burgeoning natural gas industry. Pegula earmarked the gift, which is the largest private donation in Penn State history, to upgrade the school's club hockey team to Division I and build an arena.

Pegula has since increased his commitment to $102 million.

As I read that, the entire Pegula gift is included in the total. For comparison, Thee Ohio State University raised $288MM in its last full fiscal year (only $30MM of whic were receipts from the Wexner donation) with no formal, active campaign in place.

Fuck Ped Aggy.

If you listen to PED State fans, apprantly the BOT took turns killing Joe Pa. But honestly at this point it wouldn't surprise me if he did tae the cowards way out. He ws a coward in life and probably in death aswell

Don't know if this was posted or not but from deadspin
But now CNN has obtained the actual contents of Triponey's emails to university officials, and they reveal the depth of her frustration over Paterno's efforts to have his own code of justice for Penn State players:

She criticizes Paterno for wanting to limit the Campus Code of Conduct to incidents that take place on campus and keeping disciplinary matters involving his players private. "Coach Paterno would rather we NOT inform the public when a football player is found responsible for committing a serious violation of the law and/or our student code ? despite any moral or legal obligation to do so," according to her e-mail.

In the same e-mail, Triponey, also refers to calls her office was receiving from coaches and others. "I must insist that the efforts to put pressure on (Student Affairs) and try to influence our decisions...simply MUST STOP," she writes.

Curley, in a subsequent e-mail, acknowledges that Triponey's take on the conversation with Paterno is accurate.

Triponey replies to Curley, "I know you are caught in the middle of a very difficult situation," an apparent reference to appeasing Paterno.

In a subsequent e-mail to then-Penn State President Graham Spanier she is more blunt: "I am very troubled by the manipulative, disrespectful, uncivil and abusive behavior of our football coach," she writes.

I read a pretty good account on the Pitt board of how JoePed used some administrative gimmick to transfer players who weren't going to graduate to a branch campus for their last semester. This resulted somehow in their not counting against his grad rate.

It doesn't seem possible and easily detected. But, OTOH, if the ncaa didn't want to expose their poster boy for doing things right, maybe they turned a blind eye........or they maybe just didn't want to ruin anybody's weekend.

Anyone with a Rivals account want to ask PITT fan, I'm sure they'll be happy to give the details.

Every school has easy majors that they steer athletes into. Having said that - PSU was notorious for putting players into the Park & Rec major and Joe was practically running that department for years either directly or through proxy's. So if I were the NCAA I would focus on that aspect.
