I guess we know what lubrano was talking about now. Reply
Also it seems obvious from the one email that it was CURLEY'S idea to just talk to Jerry.
Laat I checked Curley was the AD. Is this the source of the "underbelly of athletics" claim?

If so, how long has Peetz known about this?

Honestly I'm not sure why all the hysteria over the emails other than the fuzzy worded phrase about Paterno and the claim by Spanier about getting in trouble for not reporting (although that's gone by pretty much unnoticed). We all knew the 3 stooges were informed and made the decision. I agree the 1 email looks like it was Curley who wanted to talk to JS rather than report but that was sent to Schultz and Spanier (reportedly). If so- it was him expressing his opinion and looking for support. They outranked him and could over ride his decision instantly. If Peetz thinks this excuses the administration- she is clueless.

I'll say it again, their entire self-worth and identity is wrapped up in this one-dimensional, heroic, better than everyone else image of Joe Paterno. They will NEVER, NEVER give that up. To do so would undermine their very basis for being.

Surprised noone of them have drank the kool aid ala Jim Jones and his crazy followers yet. Seriously these allegations + testimony at the trial has to result in some form of action from NCAA. If the NCAA does not suspend the program for atleast a year then I lose what little respect I had for the NCAA.

Chicago bringing the fucking heat like a boss!

The dead-end cultists have nowhere to go, now, in their increasingly desperate attempts to protect their false god, who lies in pathetic ruins. The ?He didn?t know? defense was kneecapped by his own statements to the grand jury. The ?He fulfilled his legal duty? defense is undermined now that we know how the power structure really worked in Happy Valley. The deathbed claim of not understanding that it was possible that a man could rape a boy was an obvious, guilty lie.

It doesn?t matter that he was fired over the phone. People who do what he did forfeit the right to any special treatment, regardless of how many games his teams won or how long he had lived near campus. He deserved to be fired, however it needed to be done. Even the last, worshipping loon has to see that, in light of what we know to have transpired.

Paterno is in tatters today, and should be. It?s about damn time.

It?s not a good day to be Franco Harris, Dick Vitale, Mike Krzyzewski, Phil Knight, or any other last-gasp defender of Paterno, willfully ignorant of facts to ward off cognitive dissonance. It is a very good day for those who desire that the truth be learned.

Think about this. Never were officials at Sandusky?s personal victim-farm alerted to what they knew, never did they attempt to identify the boy so he could be helped. Three university officials were ready to turn Sandusky over to the state, but Joe Paterno changed the conversation and got his way.

He knew Sandusky was a child predator, testifying under oath that he knew. He was the one that chose to let crimes go unpunished, and to facilitate more.

And this is why Penn State should get the death penalty. They let another kid get raped and did nothing when they knew what Sandusky was. I seriously hope people bring as many law suits possible against the Paterno estate. Take those enabler's house if it comes to that. Joe Pa got off easy, but I hope his estate feels gets devoured.

I'm sure the greatest minds on Audibles and BWI are furiously looking over Ped Aggy 2001 employment records in the hopes of finding some mid level administrator named, "Joe."

I was thinking the same thing. Someone named Joe is going to be put up to taking the blame for this.

I hope some of the National apologists(Franco,et.al) are forced to repond to the TRUTH. I know ESPN are going to give these people a pass but they don't deserve it.

Vitale, to his credit, tweeted from London: "I was wrong." I wouldn't hold out too much hope for Franco Harris though. He's a high priest of the cult and will go down with the ship before opening his eyes.

Exactly. The outsiders may see they were wrong, but the actual cultists will lay down in front of the tanks. These people are mentally ill to an
alarming degree.

NYTimes Article: E-Mails Suggest Paterno Role in Silence on Sandusky
Freeh?s investigators are also exploring the circumstances surrounding Paterno?s decision to eventually hire McQueary as an assistant, the person familiar with the investigation said. McQueary, a former quarterback for Paterno at Penn State, has testified under oath that when he first contacted Paterno to inform him of what he had seen in the showers, Paterno assumed he was calling to ask for a job, and that Paterno brusquely told him he would not be hired.

McQueary was ultimately hired over another, more experienced candidate, and investigators are curious about whether that development came as a consequence of what he told Paterno that morning in 2001.
Holy shit! Now it wouldn't surprise me if the evil foursome hired McQueary to silence him.

This is just the beginning for Penn State, some rumors are going around that they did in fact commit NCAA violations
________
"After the bombshell dropped Saturday that the late Joe Paterno may have been involved in the Penn State administration's coverup of the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal, more bad news is coming for the athletic department in Happy Valley.

According to a report in the Chronicle of Higher Education, the independent investigation led by Louis Freeh has honed in on, among other things, special treatment the athletic department sought for some university athletes. According to a report by the Harrisburg (Pa.) Patriot-News, emails between former university President Graham Spanier and the school's former general counsel, Wendell V. Courtney, "describe steps the two men took to protect players." Also from the Patriot-News:
