Sandusky continued for nearly a decade to run a charity for at-risk children
Penn State's former top lawyer said in a deposition made public Thursday he advised the university's vice president in 2001 to notify a state agency of a complaint from an assistant football coach about Jerry Sandusky showering with a boy in a team locker room.
Former university general counsel Wendell Courtney also said in the deposition three weeks ago that no one from Penn State has ever asked him for details regarding his Feb. 11, 2001, phone discussion with then-vice president Gary Schultz or the research he did that day on reporting suspected child abuse.
"I do remember that the advice I gave was to report to DPW."
(Department of Public Welfare at the time, maintains a ChildLine hotline to field reports of child abuse.)
Courtney told The New York Times in 2011 that he was never told of Sandusky engaging in sexual misconduct with young children, and if he had "any idea that there was even remotely improper conduct with children on any day since the beginning of time, nothing in the world would have kept me from being absolutely certain that it was reported to the police immediately. That is my duty."
The cult has said repeatedly that there's nothing wrong with grown men showering with boys. Apparently it's a Pennsylvania tradition
I hate the f&^%$ing Big Ten. When the definitive book on PSU sports is written, this will prove to be the biggest mistake we ever made. This monstrous cluster*(ck of a decision proves that money is not everything.
I figure, if I sat down and tried to come up with something I like about the Big Ten, surely if I gave myself an hour I'd find something palatable, but I don't. I wish this goddamned conference had never existed to begin with. We have no business being in it, they don't want us in it, and I ****ing hate that we are in it.
Being associated with Michigan, with tOSU, with Delany, with Witvoet, etc etc etc, demeans us and covers us with shit. We should have never done it.
what demeans psu and covers them in [Mark May] are 3 conference titles in 23 years.
as much as i can't stand psu, and my disdain for them is greater than it is for ttun, i hope they never leave the conference. i want them to continue being relegated to the bottom of the conference's first tier, top of the second. if dantonio can continue his run at msu, if nebraska can gain ground on their historical reputation, and if wisconsin maintains, then psu will never consistently be more than an also-ran. if they bolt for the acc, then they'll continue pretending that they are fully self-regulated. moreover, despite their pathetic year-in and year-out conspiratorial rants, i want to continue relishing their whiny excuses. it's a pleasure to have a front row seat to their inferiority complex.
